I’ve been blogging for five years and during that time I’ve gotten questions via comments or email. Last week, while answering an email I thought why not write a little post answering some of the most common questions I’ve gotten over the years!
If you already know more about me than you ever wanted to know, I understand completely. I’m pretty boring.
I think the questions I get the most are about blogging…
Is it hard to keep up with your blog?
Yes and no. Blogging is a big time commitment and if I didn’t love it I would start to resent the time I pour into it- also, I’m an empty-nester and I don’t work outside my home, so I have more time now than I did in my thirty’s or forty’s.
Do you make money blogging?
I’ve just started putting up adds on my blog. The adds do generate a tiny bit on income, but I can promise you this, the blog has cost significantly more than I’ve ever made.
If you don’t make money, why do you do it?
My blog is the way I can love on people I might never meet face to face. I pray daily to be used in the lives of my online friends who visit here. So many people inspire me and I would be so humbled to be able to inspire someone else to live with intention the legacy they will one day leave.
But some questions aren’t about blogging, they’re about The Husband!
Seems like The Husband can do any project you dream up…is he really that handy?
Yes, yes and YES! He can build anything and he can fix anything and the man can cook!!! (It’s ridiculous, I know)
AND for Christmas he got several fancy wood-working tools-saws…whatever, so hang on, I’ve got a long list of projects for him to do this year!
You look like you have the perfect marriage do you know how lucky you are?
(I’ve gotten this question in one form or another several time- always from women who are hurting in their marriage and it breaks my heart to think that I’ve given the impression that I live in an ivory tower)
We don’t have the perfect marriage, but we’ve learned through some very bad years, how best to love each other and we’re very happy in the life we have. There was a time, that we almost threw in the towel and walked away from our marriage. In retrospect we know it was God’s grace and His tough love that kept us moving forward. Oh…and absolutely I know how blessed I am to be married to my husband.
And then there’s this…
Your projects always turn out great-do you ever have a flop?
HOLY CANNOLI – ARE YA SERIOUS???
For the love of Pete- I’m happy with only about 50% of the things I do! And for every 5 projects I post there are 2 projects (or recipes) I wouldn’t for the world show you because they’re a BUST! My latest aggravation is my guest room, I’m still planning changes for that project- it’s turning into the project that never ends!!!!!
I also get the occasional question about how many pups we have!
4 pups (Boo, Bella, Bindi and Ollie) and a once feral: Reba-The-Cat 🙂 We’re crazy. Totally crazy about animals, I’m surprised we don’t have more fur babies.
These are a few of the questions I’ve been asked repeatedly over the past 5 years… If you have any other questions shoot me an email ([email protected]) or leave a comment. But more likely than not, you already know more than about me than you want to! 🙂
