Mike built a kitchen hutch a couple of months ago. He tailored it for a specific, awkward wall and it’s turned out to be one of my favorite pieces.
Like he always does when I dream up a project, he told me to show him what I wanted and he’d do his best to build it…
I knew exactly what we needed.
A long time ago, when I saw the movie Bewitched with Nicole Kidman, I fell in love with the hutch in her cottage kitchen. See it against the wall on the right in the photo below!?
The only change I wanted to make was the finish. I didn’t want mine painted, just light color wood.
The hutch in the movie was a little on the Victorian side, which I loved.
Notice the top of our hutch, that’s what gives it the slightly Victorian feel. Mike replicated the movie hutch like a pro!
While there’s plenty of shelf space to display some of my favorite things…
like my mom’s dishes …
And seasonal elements…
… there’s also a whole lot of storage space in the cabinets and drawers underneath…
Mike has created most of what’s beautiful in our home. I dream it up, he makes it. We’re a good team, but we both know that he’s the one with all the talent 🙂
Thanks for hanging out with me and having a look at our newest home addition.
