But my favorite thing that happened yesterday is this third arch that Buck made in the wall between the den and the kitchen! It was a quite a process and so much fun to watch!
Here’s the wall before the third arch-
The Husband and I wanted the floor plan to be open and you know we love to take out walls…(the other room Mr. Max opened up for us HERE!)
Here’s the wall while Buck was working on it…
And after he worked his magic!
Opening up a space is one of my favorite projects!
***UPDATE—> The space now (2015) Opened up!

Now…can we talk for a moment about sinks? I know a sink is just a sink, not important in the whole of life, but if you have to choose one, you still have to think about it! A kitchen sink is something that most people use every single day of their lives, so a little forethought is helpful…
I’ve always had this romantic notion about apron front sinks…aka: farmhouse sinks.
They add charm to the heart of the home, like nothing else I can think of…
And I’ve set out to bring charm to Stone House Lane…
We didn’t splurge a whole lot in the kitchen update…we decided on mid-range appliances and we’re painting the existing cabinets, so the sink was our splurge…
Farm sink with marble counter top
We got our favorite sink (the one above)…a Rohl Fireclay apron front. Fireclay is a type of ceramic that is scratch and stain resistant. The Rohl sink is going to the give Stone House Lane kitchen a little charm that she deserves…
The faucet may also be a splurge (at least for our budget!), our friend Teresa at Kitchen & Bath Overstock helped us pick out is this one:
(except in brushed nickle finish)
This weekend The Husband will be reconstructing the cabinets, making a sturdy and secure home for the new sink!
~Hoping that you get to do something you love to do this weekend!~
xo
Ohhhh, so gorgeous. Brushed nickel. Wish we had a picture. I’m guessing a silver?
You should video tape The Husband while he works. We’ve been watching DIY and Holmes on Homes (or whatever the name of the show is). Y’all could send in videos of your work!!! I love to watch how they re-do and fix problem areas. Fascinating!
Dear Robin,
God Bless you and yours, in this beautiful new home. I’m truly enjoying reading, and learning about, this process
of remodeling. What a wonderful gift you have. I haven’t , and as a result; I will “steal “any idea that will help me! I would like to know if you painted your cabinets, and if so; are they grey or blue ? The black apron sink is nice, I didn’t have a clue it came in that color ! I love your blog and thank you for sharing all you have. What a beautiful home.
Best Wishes,
Elise
I love farm sinks! Great arch he put in too. Really opens the room up! Very exciting!
Congrats…you guys move incredibly fast! Closing and tons of work on day one! Will enjoy watching the process!
Oh, I am so excited for you!! 🙂 Love the new arch. It really balances the wall too. And of course I love the sink. 🙂 I’m sure you are having so much fun!! 🙂
I love that sink and faucet! It’s all coming together so nicely already! Have a great weekend, Robin! xxoo
Fabulous changes. You’re going to love it once it’s all done. I think it’s so much fun researching the choices and seeing what’s available. I hope you love and enjoy each moment.
I am with you 100% on taking out walls and on farmhouse sinks! I LOVE the one you chose, Robin. Seriously, your kitchen is going to be fabulous. Can’t wait until it’s done so you can share pictures and I can pin them to my inspiration boards for my next kitchen! xoxo Gigi
Oh! That third arch is marvelous! What a good idea.
The link for the sink doesn’t work. Do you mind sharing the size?
Megan, thanks so much for telling me about the link! I fixed it…I don’t know the size but it’s a Rohl (Shaw / Fireclay)! I think there’s only one large sink so you should be easy to find.
