Let’s do a little tutorial today!
Is it just in the South, or do girls everywhere wear anklets when the weather gets warm? The moment sandals and Capri’s and sun dresses come out of storage, you can see little jewelry decorating ankles everywhere! I made some of these last year and gave some away. You know I love to give things away! The one I kept for my own bad self, I wore nonstop all summer. In the ocean, in the pool…everywhere!
Here’s all you need to start…the findings are just end clamps and all of this can be found at Michael’s and JoAnn’s!Cut 2 pieces of hemp or cotton cord between 8 and 9 inch’s depending on the dainty little ankle you’ll be adorning!
Okay here’s what I do, you Do NOT have to use this glue. I have a love hate relationship with it myself. I get it all over my hands and it takes about 24 hours to wear off! I dip the ends of the cord in a dab of glue before putting them into the end clamp. But you can simply clamp the ends. I’m OCD and feel compelled to glue and clamp!
The end clamps are easy, just put the cord in and use needle nose pliars to close the ends of the clamp over the cord. Do the other side of your cord the same way!
To one side of the end clamp attach a clasp like this one…
I love to add charms to the other end. I think the little shells are delightful!
Now, knot both cords through the round charm like this. It’s difficult to describe but doing it is easy!
Taaa Daaa!
I’m sorry you have to see my ankle Peeps, the pups have itty bitty ankles and they were terrible models!
Teaching teenage girls at church, I know they’d love these! They’d make a great craft for little girls. (I’m thinking Vacation Bible School.) They’re so hip and dainty at the same time. And Julie Garmon would love to win one because she doesn’t frequent the craft aisle.
You know I am with Julie on not frequenting the craft aisle 🙂 Although I am working on a super cute snack idea my son’s whole class enjoyed!
Cute craft idea!
Blessings,
Vicky

How adorable. Those pictures bring back childhood memories.
Rob, now you are talking my language, I love this because, besides the glue, I admit, it scares me, I could do this with Kayla and Candace and they would absolotely love it. They were using some of that stuff this weekend to make me a bracelet for Mum’s Day.
Where did you get the charms, Michaels. I hate/love Michaels they could make a crafter out of me yet. I spend so much money when I go there, I must go with a list.
BTW, I had a meeting with God yesterday and I felt His presence for the first time in a long time. I am pretty sure He was there all a long. Thanks for being His hands and heart to me.

We even wear them in Denmark 🙂 It’s not the warmest country in the world, but when the sun is out so is my anklet. But it’s all alone and would love to get company by yours 😉

Love your site and the adorable anklets! So refreshing and bright! Hope I can win a “Faith” one, since that’s my name! Thanks for the tutorial, it really looks fun!
I love these with all my heart…..the moment I saw them, I knew what they could mean to people. …now the rest of the story.
To me these are the tie’s that bind…..meaning the three people that would wear them would be bound together. I would wear one, place one on my mother and hurry and send one to our Niece…..first to graduate and go on to college. She is a very smart girl, and she feels a connection with mom and I, because we are strange artists (age 61 and 79) like she is. Misty thinks we are the only ones that understand how she thinks of things that don’t exist yet. She decided to become a graphic designer.
Win them or not, I Thank You for sharing and restarting my creative mind. I needed that. And now I want to make things that bind friends and family.
You know, I wonder how washers with perm. ink would work on these, then coat with marine varnish…….hummm, anyway, thank you again for sharing this. I love them. Linda in AZ – first time here
Those are so dang cute! I even think I could maybe make them, but I’d much rather win them! I’m so glad I found your blog! Thanks!

Thank you for the easy-to-follow tutorial and for the idea. I am going to make these for my sisters who do not like fussy jewelry, but would like the sentiment and the shells! I have a simple necklace, myself, that someone gave me from an artist’s fair and I am going to make one of these to go with it. I am really excited. Thanks for the heads-up on the glue, too.
People look at you weird here in Houston if you’re not wearing one LOL. Those are adorable and I WILL be making one or more this weekend!

We are definately making these!! My daughter is so excited she wants to make these for her friends birthday gifts — THANK YOU!!!Blessings!
I can’t wait to share this project with my friends at the lake! I am having a hard time finding the round charm (Lost and Found open pendant). I will keep searching but appreciate any help.
Thanks for the fun project!
Not sure where you are Deb, do you have a Michaels or JoAnn’s? I think any craft store that sells jewlery findings would have them! I’m going to check online though and see if I can locate some and I’ll let you know.
Thx for stopping by!
~Robin
How cool! I love this type of anklet. The one’s I’ve had before have been braided and I’ve worn them until they eventually fall off. These are really neat though – think a trip to Michael’s is in order to see if my dd and I can’t make some together. Thanks for a great idea and great instructions.
I just love everything you have. Especially the anklets! Awesome job!
These are the cutest anklets! I’m definitely going to be making some of these this week. I swear, the employees at Michael’s are going to know me by name by the end of this summer!

This is a wonderful tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I’ve posted a link.
I cannot wait to try to make these! They are sooo cute! I love it! 🙂 Thank you for teaching us!
Hey! This tutorial is ADORABLE. I just had a death in the family and I resorted to doing DIY projects to take my mind off losing my grandfather. What kind of end clamp is that? I want to be sure to get the right one!
hi,
these are so beautiful. I have tried to find the washers online but I cannot. Joanne does not have them besides they don’t ship to europe. do you know where I can find the washers or do you sell the anklets yourself? thanks
It’s really beautiful… I just love these cute anklets
