One of our great joys in the spring time is porch time. We sit on the porch before dawn to have our quiet time and often around dusk we enjoy some time out here to end our day. Outside lighting creates a soothing atmosphere and I love nothing more than getting creative with my lighting choices.
These lighted grapevine balls (orbs-spheres???) in a side table are my latest fun lighting alternative for the porch…
If you’ve been hanging out with me for long, you know I love simple, easy and budget friendly projects and this one fits the bill…
Also, you know how much I love my lighted grapevine orbs…
I have used them as a porch chandy…HERE!
Because they’re ever so magical after dark…
I made a little Grapevine Lighted Topiary HERE
And I’ve used them at Christmas…HERE
Now I have some hanging out in my side table on the porch…
These guys are super easy to make…
Here’s What You Need:
2 sets of White Lights with Brown Wire:

*Garden Twine
*Grapevine Balls in different sizes- HERE
Mine are 4″ and 6″

*Wire Garden Stool or Side Table
I found mine at Hobby Lobby but they are out of them at my store-if you can’t find one, you can do one of 2 things…
#1—> Make One:
Use a wire laundry basket or trash can to make your own side table like Jenni from My DIY
#2—-> look around for a wire garden stool like this one: HERE

Okay...here's how to make the lighted grapevine balls...it's EASY!
I used about 25 lights inside each large ball & 15 or so lights inside each medium ball…
I tried this several ways, wrapped around outside…no.
With the lights sticking out of the ball…looked a bit like a porcupine so that was a no.
Finally I settled on threading the lights inside the balls…
…tying them in place with a bit of garden twine…(or securing them with the brown zip ties!)
I started with a big ball then did two medium then a large and ended with a medium. This way you can use these as a hanging light HERE, or stack them in a basket for a lighted table!
If you want to make this even easier, you can buy the spheres pre lit, I found some HERE:
But really, those are pricey…you can easily do this yourself for super cheap!
If you want a little project that is super versatile, make these lighted grapevine spheres..you’ll find bunches of ways to use them around the house…
Are you getting your outdoor spaces ready for warm weather? I’d love to hear what you’re up to!
There were a couple of questions about the porch love seat (and chairs) – Here’s the info! I got them from HERE
Wishing you all a warm weather day my friends~ xo
Where did you find the light strands with brown wire? Thanks!
Stephanie,
I have seen them at JoAnn’s but if you click on the photo of the lights in the instructions, it’ll take you to an Amazon link! xo
What a wonderful idea!!! Would be a beautiful addition to our porch parties~~~
Thanks, Rob.
Can you tell me who makes the wicker settee in your first picture? I’ve been looking for that style! Thanks!!
Antoinette I got the settee at Kohls…I’ll look for a link and post it as soon as I have a minute! ox
Thank you so much!
Robin, you are sooo creative!! I love your table on your porch. I also love the topiary. I may have to give this a try. Thanks for the ideas!
I am getting my outdoor spaces ready, and I popped in to ask about your deck boards. Have a 3 season porch that needs all the cedar done, and your floor looks white washed or something similar? Tell me about those boards?
Love this idea and it goes so well with that dark wicker couch!
I’m already thinking of a lovely romantic evening on the deck. So glad you shared with us at Merry Monday. I’ll be sharing this post on my FB page today.
These are so pretty! And I love how easy they are to make yourself. Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday this week.
I was actually just looking at some old grapevine balls of mine the other day wondering what to do with them. This is such a fun idea! Thanks for sharing!
Can you tell us where you purchased the wire and wood side-table housing the grapevine balls on your porch? I just love it!
I got the table at Hobby Lobby but I don’t think they have it anymore…In the post, I put a link to a similar table …good luck!
