Here they are!!! My top three choices for lighting over the farm table. (If you want to see all the lights in the running they’re HERE)
Choosing lighting over a table isn’t only about what you love, it’s also about proportion (to the table and the room). That ruled out the 1st place light. It’s really, really big. Perfectly proportioned for the table but way too big for the room. We looked at the measurements in the room in front of the glass doors and felt it would overwhelm the narrow space.
The next thing I look for when I’m making a choice for the house is staying-power. I love trendy. But I tend to only do trendy with paint and fabric choices. (like pillows or duvets) Those things are easily changed when I get tired of them. And if it’s trendy, I do get tired of it. Now, I’ve no idea if the light below is trendy. I’ve never seen one like it. And I really love it…BUT, I feared in 2 years I’d be over it and ready for a change. So out went the second choice…
Which led me to this beauty. Perfectly proportioned for the room and the table. The black goes nicely with the brushed nickle school house pendants over the bar and is a perfect transition to the den with it’s more rustic feel.
And I love the classic, graceful lines that offset the more rustic iron-look finish.
I’m not putting shades on it because shades change the whole look of a fixture like this…and I like her just the way she is…
Has anyone ever told you that they like you just the way you are? I first heard that from Mister Rogers when I watched Mister Rogers Neighborhood with tiny daughter Bethany. I felt like he was talking to me personally. I know now that God was using good ole Mr. Rogers to love on me…but back to the subject at hand…the light…
This light, she’s humble. She doesn’t scream: look at me, instead she does what she was made to do, she let’s her light shine.
And she does it with quiet grace don’t ‘cha think?
Praying for you dear friends, that you will know with certainty: you are loved, just the way you are and that today, you’ll let your sweet light shine like only you can do.
Oh…and how do you like the light? xoxo

Robin~ I think you are one of those people whose taste is so refined and selections are so well thought out, that I simply love whatever you choose! I think its perfect and of course love that I can see how “humble” both the light and you are 🙂
Robin,
What a beautiful chandelier, perfect for the space, and so thoughtfully chosen! I love the photo looking into the den with the pup on the chair 🙂 Your house is beautiful- full of warmth and charm 🙂
I totally agree. She’s the perfect combo of grace and humility. At first I liked the basket-looking one, but not until I got to know the one holding candles! She’s quietly comfortable with who she is.
And it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
How do yu ALWAYS know what I need to hear????????????? Oh, I remember, it is God speaking through YOU! YES!!!! I do love the light. It is perfect. XO, Pinky

This one is perfect and if you get bored with it you can paint it! Did you decide what you were going to use, to recover the chairs or did I miss that?
Diana, I haven’t settled on a fabric :0 but I have narrowed it down to 2 – I need your opinion!!! (Gotta show pictures of the 2 fabrics!!!)
Yes, please show the pictures of the fabrics…..I’m excited!
starting a small restoration company called home art; do you all have a cayalog?
Pam, thanks for asking but we just do DIY projects around the house! Best of luck with your new company! Keep me informed it sounds exciting!!! xo
Looks great!! Would you mind telling me where you found choice number 1? I love that look but can’t find one with wood on the bottom. Thanks so much!
Jodi, it was from Ballard Design (I had a post with all the info. in it that’s why I didn’t list the info in this post! Im so sorry!!!) If Ballard Design doesn’t have it anymore, check with Lowe’s…I’ve seen a similar one there in the past year 🙂
Good luck my friend! ox
Thanks Robin!! I did finally find it on your post and was able to order it last night. I was able to get it on sale and with free shipping! Yay!! Thanks for your help!
Jodi!!! YAY!!! I’d so love to see the light up when you get it installed! Maybe if you don’t mind I could put a photo of it on the post for other ppl to see~ sending love my friend ! ox
I love your choice. It is so graceful and classic. One thing I am wondering about, as I have a “cousin” of your chandelier, with the demise of incandescent bulbs, will we still be able to get bulbs for our fixtures?
Lynn, I sure hope that someone comes up with a bulb that has a base like our chandelier …I would think there are so many people who have lights that use this kind of base that it would be necessary to give us an alternative! ox
I’m sorry, I’ve looked and relooked, but I cannot see where you found the 3rd light? Could you please tell me? Thank you
