I dream in pink…along with soft shades of blue and teal, pink is one of the colors that make me breathe deep and smile. When my daughter Bethany gave me a chair she didn’t want, I knew exactly what color it was meant to be…
Here’s how the little chair started life…(this was our garage sale)
One morning on a walk I saw a little brown bird on a brown mailbox post and I thought…pink bird on my pink chair.
After I painted the birds I used Gorilla Glue and glued the little birds (from the dollar tree) right onto the chair! Ummm, I’ve glued them on twice but I decided the chair’s new home will be next to my bathtub so it’s not exactly a high traffic area, maybe the birds will stay on this time!
I made the seat cover out of 3 placemats and a ruffle off an old curtain…there was no plan with the placemats, just arranged them-pinned them and sewed them together!
Then added the ruffle that I cut off of the old curtain I found at a thrift store…
Love to you my sweet friends. I’m hanging with Baby Hartley this week but I’ll be back Wednesday (Linky goes up Tuesday at 7:30) with All Things Inspired. Come back and share a link!
just love it! i am always impressed by crafty people their mind is so into it… it is like me with music or body therapy i just feel what must be done…
Great chair, Robin! Love the addition of the birds. If they just won’t stay on, I’ve had to reglue come Gorilla glued pieces myself and find that E-3000 {is it 3000 or 6000 ~ can’t recall off the top of my head} works really well. Love your cushion. I’ve been thinking of picking up some old ruffled things myself to keep on hand for the ruffle.
i love this chair and his color! it reminds me the chair of snow-white 😉
Sweet, sweet idea!! Love the birds. Are they wooden?
Oh, wow. This might be my most favorite thing you’ve done….reminded me of people and how we can change too. 🙂 🙂
NICE ROBIN!! And pink…….and what Julie said….and dido…..ditto!
Oh Robin, I just want to come sit in the chair and chat with you on the front porch 🙂 Your vision is just a marvel to me and you never cease to leave me amazed!
If I had a covered porch, I would love to have a chair like that. It looks like the perfect place to just relax with a glass of sweet tea and a book to read. :0)
Robin,
I love, love your chair! Just my style! Hanging with Hartley trumps it all though! 🙂
I just love this chair! It is so pretty and I love pink~ The idea of sewing placemats together is quite original. All of your projects are full of love and it shows. Comfort, peace, beauty and love go into all you do~ Have a wonderful day!
How did you think to put BIRDS on your chair! I know, the brown bird but I never would have made that leap! Your creativity knows no bounds, girl!!!! XO, Pinky
THAT is inspiring, Robin!! What a sweet & charming transformation!! I think you should link it up at my Tuesday party (open until late Friday night.) I think it’s time I feature YOU!! Because I LOVE this!! http://bit.ly/iHJjSv
Robin, I love your blog! Paul sends greetings to “The Husband”!
Merna! Hello old friend!!! I’m so happy you dropped in…sending you and Paul our love~
I’m trying to pick a pink paint to paint some benches in my gazebo. This color looks perfect! What’s the name? Thanks.
Hi! I simply used the Krylon Ballet Slipper Pink…(the spray paint) It’s a bit bright in person and I had some lying around. A pink that I love though is a Martha Stewart color from Home Depot…It strangely has the same name! (Ballet Slipper Pink) but it’s much much softer…the Martha Stewart line has been discontinued but you can have the color matched in a Behr Ultra Paint w/ Primer at Home Depot. I think you’d love it!
Good Luck~ xo

Hi Robin, I pinned this fabulous chair from your Flickr photo months and months ago. Today I noticed your blog name on the photo (yeah, can you believe it took me all this time to notice that?), and so I googled it and found your blog. I love, love, love this chair and was so excited to see your post and tutorial on how you came to create it, along with that very charming chair pad. So now I’ve got the whole chair story and I’ve repined it from your website. I’m following you on Pinterest and via Bloglovin’ because I love your style and your awesome blog. So glad I found you this morning. Have a great Sunday! Nancy @ A Joyful Cottage. 🙂
Nancy, I’m so happy to meet you!!! Thanks so much for leaving a comment and being so kind and encouraging! I look so forward to getting to know you in the future! ox
