You guys know how much I love owls, well meet my precious friend Katie (I used to keep Katie when she was a baby!) and her hubby Matt (the fireman!) and Baby Addison (One of the cutest babies ever! I would say she’s the Cutest baby ever but I have 2 granddaughters ya know!!!)…like I was saying, Katie loves owls about as much as I do!
Katie decided to do a Look whooo’s turning 1 birthday party for Addison! And she did it on a budget! I could hardly wait to share it with you guys!
Look at her high chair! What a cute banner! I think this is the best idea! Katie got the idea from a friend…how cute!
Look at this darling invitation…she made 3 paper projects…the invitations, the ONE sign (above) and the picture-banner (I’ll show you in a second!) all for about $15.00! (You can do this if you watch JoAnns which has great 40% off sales and such good coupons for things that aren’t on sale!)
Katie also made the Ah-door-able owl! She found the idea HERE! That little cutie is made from mostly from Styrofoam and felt!
Isn’t the cake so cute and yummy looking! The recipe for the birthday cake is from scratch Katie found the cake recipe HERE at the Smitten Kitchen and the strawberry frosting recipe HERE at good ole Martha Stewart! It’s such a gorgeous cake and the best part is that Fireman Matt helped with the cake! (Whooo doesn’t love a hubby that helps cook!?)
Here’s the picture-banner I was telling you about! How completely wonderful, it’s like a little photo journal!
Do any of you with babies do a monthly photo? This is the best idea and what a precious memory banner for everyone to see on her first birthday…I love this.
Happy Birthday Sweet One…look at that baby…smooch!
Katie made lots of these pom-poms. I love the soft colors…I’m gonna make some of these for Elliot’s 2nd birthday! Katie loved the ones Jessica did HERE, and she found instructions for making them HERE!
Oh, I had to show you this sweet owl hair bow! Katie thought of every detail! She ordered the bow from an Etsy shop: HERE!
(pictures taken by Katie’s sister Christie!)
You don’t have to spend loads of money if you plan ahead and shop wise you can create a special day and not break the budget.
Thank you Sweet Katie for letting me share your creative ideas!

Hi! I’m giving my son an owl 1st birthday party and I LOVE your friend, Katie’s ideas. So creative! Where did she get the invitations? It is so cute!
A lovely, warm and cute birthday party.Love above photos. Thanks for your sharing
I absolutely love this theme birthday party!! And I was inspired to do the same idea for my baby girls 1st birthday party. After seeing some of these CUTE ideas from this one, I really can’t wait to start the planning of hers now. A few quick questions….where did Katie find the pink owl shirt Addison is wearing and the other jumper cake outfit? Also where did she find the invitations at? I am so glad ya’ll shared these pictures with us!! And Addison is super cute!!
I absolutely love Addison’s 2 outfits (owl shirt and the pink gingham cake jumper outfit). Where did Katie find these? And where did she get her invitations from? Thanks a bunch!!
Hi Lindsay,
I’m glad you enjoyed looking at Addison’s party! I had so much fun planning it. I made the invitations by hand. I cut out each individual owl piece and then glued them together. I bought the blank, white invitation at Jo-Ann’s and printed the wording at home. The owl’s hat is a sticker. As for the clothes, a friend gave me the pink owl shirt (and I’m not sure where she got it) and I found the jumper at a consignment sale. Sorry I can’t be of more help in that area! If you’d like more pictures of the party, please send me an email to [email protected]. I’m happy to help in any way I can! I hope you are having fun planning your little girl’s birthday! The first birthday is such a special time!!!
