I took the plunge after contemplating repainting my front door for 6 months…
It was red, which I love but after I started redecorating the house in lighter, breezier colors the red just didn’t feel right. So I repainted it white! Ummm, when I say “I” what I mean is: The Husband. He took the door off the hinges, sanded and painted…what a man. Anyhoo, after it was freshly painted it was time for a spring wreath…
* I used a large grapevine wreath
*large bag of the moss-sheets
* Reindeer Moss
*any other moss that catches your eye!
(I got all the moss at JoAnn’s!)
* Glue gun
I cut the moss sheet like this…
I wrapped the moss around the front of the wreath and glued it just out of sight on the back. I didn’t do a continual wrap because it felt like I was wasting a lot of moss on the back!
As I was wrapping the moss I thought it looked flat so I started tucking some spanish moss under the sheet moss to give it a cushy look.
Also, you don’t want to leave the straight edge of the moss sheet showing…
Again, I added other moss and kinda tucked in the edges of the sheet moss. I put a bit of glue where I added moss…
Then I wired on a little robin and a couple of nests…I’ll change the decoration to sunflowers or daisies in the summer so wiring it makes it easy to switch out!
I hung it with the burlap ribbon (at Michael’s in the floral dept.) because EVERY wreath hanger I’ve ever had is about 3″ too short!
I updated this little wreath HERE with a little purple! The moss wreath makes an easy backdrop for an update! (I’ll be updating it again this spring!)
ooh I love this! I have been wanting to make a moss wreath for some time. Where did you get the moss sheets? Love the springy accents!
Kristina…I got all the moss at JoAnn’s (I added that info to the post! )Thanks for giving me a heads-up that I left it out! xo
