Hello Sweet Friends! If you haven’t hit LIKE on my new blog facebook button would you mind doing that for me? Or just go HERE to LIKE it ! xo Thank you bunches and bunches!
If you don’t have your mama a gift yet, why not head over to your local nursery and buy a few herbs and a pretty planter! You could plant the herbs that you cook with and include a recipe card for each herb!
I’ve never had a yard with lots of sunshine. In my home on Willow Creek and now on Stone House Lane the back deck is the best place to grow those plants that love sun. So for 15 years I’ve grown herbs in planter boxes mounted to the side of the deck. I used to have lots of boxes with all kinds of herbs but these days I grow only three kinds…
Mint, because I use it in Iced Tea in the summer…
Dill…Because I use it to make Dill Butter for Corn on the Cobb…
6 ears of corn on the cobb cooked
1/4 lb. very soft butter
1/2 cup fresh dill-chopped
Salt & Pepper to taste
While corn is cooking, mash the dill into the soft butter using a fork!
While corn is still hot, spread the Dill Butter on each ear and put on serving platter or directly onto plates…salt and pepper to taste
And Basil…I use it in Basil Mashed Potatoes…
2 lbs Yukon Potatoes-Peeled and cut into into pieces
1 teaspoon Salt
2 cloves garlic
8 Fresh Basil leaves chopped fine
1/4 cup milk, cream or lactose free milk
1/8-1/4 cup softened butter
Put potatoes, salt, garlic and basil into boiling water and cook until tender-
Drain potatoes and mix milk, butter and pepper in with potatoes and beat until smooth!
I think giving a cute planter box full of whatever herbs you cook with along with a recipe for each herb would be a great Mother’s Day gift…do you have any recipes using fresh herbs from your garden? If so can you share one in the comment section, maybe I’ll find a new herb I need to grow and a new recipe to try!!!
Sending you love my sweet friends
