I’m linking to 2nd Time Around Tuesday over at the wonderful blog, A Picture is worth a Thousand Words! This blog party is such fun especially if you’re love a great find or a great re-purpose project!!!
This is a fun redo! One day last week I looked at my hall tree and asked The Husband to haul it downstairs. It’s either going on the curb or I’m painting the thing… We’re still in a recession and I could tell by the look on The Husband’s face I’d be painting.
So I sanded and sanded and sanded…
And I primed and primed…
Then I found this scrumptious color paint…blue willow at Lowes. It reminded me of one of the blues in the ocean. I’m a sucker for blues and teals and greens…a sucker I tell ya.
So I painted blue willow…
It was close to what I was looking for…but nooooot quite.
So I started sanding again…sanding and sanding and sanding…have I told you I have arthritis in my right hand? Sanding isn’t a good thing for me.
After all the sanding…still not quite what I want…nope not quite.
So I broke out some of The Husband’s stain…
Noooow we’re talkin.
A little softer and more subdued but still that scrumptious blue shows softly through…
I’ve been enamored by these ocean side colors …and now I have a little bit right in our little home…
And I’ve put off having to buy something new for the foyer. This is a win-win! I love paint don’t you? What did you do this weekend Peeps?
I’m also linking to Metamorphosis Monday over at Between Naps on the Porch…Great before and afters over there, meander around a bit you won’t be disappointed! And if you have a blog Susan is sharing some good info. on blogs today! Enjoy~
And last but not least, I’m linking to Blue Monday over at Smiling Sally’s! This girl loves her “blue”…I finally got to join in on her love for All Things Blue!!!
That looks like a LOT of work. But it looks wonderful. Well done!

What a CHANGE UP! Wish you could bottle that elbow grease and send me some! That looks gorgeous. Truly. You lightened up the entry way. I can see how the wood stain would have been too heavy. I have the same problem in my entry way with the dark wood wicking away too much light. The color is GREAT! Thanks for stopping in today. 🙂

I see you also park books on your stairs — I thought I was the only one. Yours may be there to decorate — mine land there waiting to be taken up to my office/library.

I do not envy you the painting. Last summer I bought a dining room table and six chairs from Craigslist for my daughter to take to grad school and her first apartment. It was too big so my dad cut it down. Then we sanded chairs, an inset, pedestals, and table and primed and painted and reupholstered… and turned a blonde set with tacky green striped seats into a sleek black set with a tan and wine red cloth seat insets. She loves it.. I never want to do that again. You are brave and it turned out so well.

Very nice. I would have had a very hard time convincing my hubby that painting would be a good idea (even though he always like the end result).
Nice Job. I’m always afraid to start a task like that. That looks awesome!! Hope your hands feel better.

You are one smart cookie! I love it, but I am such a “blue” person. I would love to know the paint color–the original blue. You saved some money and created a beautifulnew piece for your foyer!
Wow – I love that. Everything about it. I especially like the color and the fact that even though the blue is there – it is still a nuetral-ish color that could really fit in with most color schemes. I definitely think your hard work paid off!
