I had a little Metamorphosis last week! I’ve been wanting to change the bedding on The Husband and my bed for so long. But it’s a budget year and I couldn’t find anything in my budget. Which, for this unnecessary project is next to nothing. Really…I wanted to do it for under $100.00 bucks. We have a king size bed…Here’s the before…Bindi says she’s really tired of it. Just look at her fed-up little face.
Here’s what I found for UNDER $100.00! Guess where? Walmart! It’s that new-ish Better Homes and Garden line. I was worried, I’ve never bought bedding at Walmart but I love it!
Now, all of it was on big sale from the already super cheap prices…but this isn’t JUST 1 comforter set…
It’s TWO! The pumpkin paisley and the brown matlese! Both came with pillow shams and the paisley came with the bed skirt!
The rule was…that the bed “clothes” had to match my curtains. I didn’t want to replace the curtains too! And just look! The paisley pattern has the same brick red as my curtains…
Here’s the break-down…
Paisley Comforter Set: $40.00!
Brown Matlese Set: $35.00!
Total!!!!!! $75.00!
And now…here is my latest book review from a Thomas Nelson book…
Most of you know I’m a blog-book-reviewer for Thomas Nelson. This book Fresh Start, by a Teaching Pastor at Saddleback Church, is my latest read from the program. I was drawn to the book because of the title. Who doesn’t want a fresh start in one area or another? I half expected the status quo self help book, but was pleasantly surprised.
There are Seven Ways Till Sunday to get stuck or in a rut in life and Pastor Doug hits all the major ones. Things like your past, your hurts, your conflicts, your rejections, your anger are addressed and put into perspective in ways that give hope and ideas for starting fresh.
My favorite chapter was “Pride vs. God-Sized Dreams”. Maybe it’s my age but after a series of broken dreams I started to wonder if all my dreams were the wrong ones. Pastor Doug said this: “…moving from who we are, to who God wants us to become, involves a spiritual scalpel.” The idea of new dreams, ones from God gave me much needed hope for a fresh start in the midst of shattered dreams.
The book helped me take an honest look at areas where I may have gotten off track and gotten stuck. It was practical and encouraging with a healthy dose of reality check!
TTFN Peeps…Happy Monday~ Prayers for us all as we live our legacy one day at a time!
HI sweets, I have been on a NEW spiritual journey for several months now and I have realized that my “dreams” were not what God had in mind for me BUT…..I am so darn grateful for what He has given me! I truly wake up every day now and thank God for my life…..and believe me it has NOT been easy! It has been MANY valleys with a few peaks, BUT, like I said, this is the life I now believe God had in mind for me. I wish I had been able to be grateful MANY years ago. Hang in there, and e-mail me if you would like to. I think you have the address. If not leave a comment and I will send it (IF you want it!!!!:):):) Love, hugs and prayers, Pinky GEESH! Almost forgot to mention that I LOVE your new bedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is gorgeous! I do shop at Walmart and have gotten many beautiful things for my home there. People are usually VERY surprised when they admire something and I say, “Walmart”!!!!
What a great find! Looks just beautiful with the existing curtains!
That’s gorgeous bedding, perfect for fall! Isn’t it crazy how bedding can get so expensive? Since I’m still in school I have a twin, which luckily is a lot cheaper to buy bedding for and I’ve been getting a lot of use out of duvet covers which are relatively inexpensive and they’re actually pretty easy to make! I’ve only made one cover so far, but it turned out really well. Lately I’ve just been using a white comforter cover and some pink paisley sheets. It’s simple but very cute…I guess I’m milking my ‘bright colors are totally age appropriate’ timeframe for as long as possible! LOL
I never would have guessed that the bedding was from Walmart. I looks so comfy and rich. Maybe I need some new bedding, too…

The bedding is wonderful, but I think the book would be wonderful to read too. I think we all need to get back on track with what God wants us to do. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Marty

Love the bedding! This is just too funny to me, because I also just got BH&G bedding from Walmart!!! I got the new paisley sheets and peackock blue tufted comforter set, all for $120. They don’t have the sheets on the website, but the comforter is here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11151669 .

Hey,
I was suffering the net for a new bedding set and seen that you had the same one that I bought a couple of years ago. I love that one so much that I just want to replace it with a new one. I can’t find it anywhere on the net. Do you by some chance remember the name of the pattern or have an item number. It would help me out so much.
Thanks,
And God Bless,
Mischelle Washam
Mischelle, I got this at Walmart but don’t remember the name. It was a Better Homes and Garden brand I think! Good luck!
