I have so many readers who don’t sew and when I did the post last week on Vinyl Coffee Cozy
several of you asked for another alternative so I played around and found one!
No-Sew Coffee Cozy!
*I got a few stiffened felt sheets at JoAnne’s. One sheet makes two cozies.
*At Hobby Lobby, in the Christmas area, on the Kid’s Craft aisle I found (packs of ) laser-cut (felt) snowflake garland! It’s $2.99 and you could do tons of coffee cozys with these! (Have a kids craft day and invite the neighborhood or split the garland with a friend!)
Use a opened up starbucks sleeve for your pattern and cut the felt (you can get 2 cozys from each felt sheet.) My post HERE shows more on cozies.
*I used a low temp glue gun but I think felt-glue would have been better!
Wrap the felt sleeve around a Starbucks cup (as I said in my first cozy tutorial, I washed a cup out and saved it for just this purpose!) This gives you an idea of the size and of how much of the cozy there is to decorate and exactly where you’ll need to glue! Mark the spot you’ll glue to make the cozy fit. I used a straight pin to mark the spot.
*Slip the sleeve off of the cup and lay it flat. Now have some fun decorating your cozy.
There are lots of little felt images you can glue onto the cozy. (Again, look either in the Christmas Craft (Kid) Section at Hobby Lobby or the Felt Section at JoAnn’s or Michael’s)
I used Heat and Bond Vinyl on this cozy just to try it out, but I wouldn’t do it again…felt and an iron don’t go that well together!
I cut the snow flakes (from the felt garland) right down the middle for this one…it really was fun!
*When you’re done decorating your cozy, glue it to make it fit the cup!
No sewing required! Just fun and easy…
