As I tip toe through the last week of 2012, I find myself enveloped in the sweetness of nostalgia. It’s like this every year, looking back on God’s provisions, on His faithfulness…on His grace.
I ask myself these questions:
What did The Father teach me about my one-word for the year?
&
What is the impression He’s giving me about my one-word for the coming year?
I’ll be writing more about the lessons I’m learning from my one-word for 2012…Simplicity.
But today I wanted to tell you about my one-word for 2013. For over a month I’ve been asking Him to lead me to the theme for 2013.
What is it you’d like to work on in the coming year Father? What’s my one-word?
In my quiet times, a couple of words have jumped out at me. When that happens I write the words really big on a page in my prayer journal. It’s kinda wonderful the way God speaks to each of us right where we are, for me, He’s gracious enough to impress me over and over with a word or a theme. I think He knows I’ll question myself.
In the past 4 weeks, time and time again in my devotions, my scripture reading and in conversations with The Husband one of the words I wrote large in my journal, has continually come up…
Abide
So that’s it.
For 2013 my one-word is Abide.
I’m praying daily that God will open my eyes to all the lessons He’d have me learn about this word.

Wanna hear something funny? 🙂
I have to tell you what The Husband said when I told him I felt God showed me my one-word for 2013…
“Do you remember in the movie Ghost Busters when the ghost tells Dan Aykroyd that the NEXT thing he thinks about will happen?”
(No…I have no memory of that movie)
The Husband continued...
“Well, his next thought was about the Stay Puff Marshmallow and he looked up and this enormous Stay Puff Marshmallow man was coming down the street chasing him- that’s how I feel about your one-word.”
Sometimes that man is a cynic 🙂
(He was, of course, kidding. But really, God’s lessons are always a surprise in regard to my one-word!)

Do you choose one little word for the year, if so have you settled on a word yet?
And if you have a minute, I’d love to hear about your process…how do you choose your one-word?

I almost, almost picked your very same word for next year!
Love The Husband’s quick dry humor. xoxo
Well, I know I need a word but have no clue what it will be. I also haven’t had a QUIET moment in a week. Maybe soon………..
My word for 2012 was “Dwell.” It is a synonym of abide. I learned a lot from that word. May God bless you as you abide in Him.
thank you Donna…sending you love
The word I’ve been led for 2013 is Freedom..
Gal 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
This year is going to be an interesting personal journey…:) Thank you for always inspiring me Robin. Bless you.
