Did you know that there are only 173 days left in 2012?
I know this because it’s that time of the month..(the time I look at my one-word for the year and take note of all God’s been showing me) So I googled to see exactly how long I had left to make sure simplicity settles into every corner of my little world. Considering how utterly chaotic the first 192 days of 2012 have been I feel a bit of concern.
Then again…
You know I have a theory:
Chaos proceeds simplicity…
And this year so far, we’ve had the chaos part of that theory.
Chaos in the form of a big remodel in the old house in January, followed by finding a new house in April that needed another even bigger remodel. Then of course moving after 23 years in the same house…yep, we’ve absolutely done chaos this year. BUT… as I think this through, there’s good news, to be honest, I’m starting to see a bit of simplicity around here!
The Husband and I have purged our ‘stuff’ until we are almost to the point of having only those things that we use day to day.
And it feels so good.
Like if you take in the deepest breathe possible…hold…then slowly let it out.
That kind of good.
Strangely the purge in my physical world has pervaded my heart. Someone’s opening hidden doors and letting Light into dark places. God works patiently layer by layer doesn’t He?

Did you chose one-word for the year? If so would you give us an update??? xo
Sending simple thoughts your ways Sweet Ones…
Simple thoughts. Simple thoughts. I love that. It’s probably the key to life. The key to my one word Surrender.
How am I doing with it? I’ve discovered surrender isn’t a one time deal. It isn’t even a once a day deal. It’s moment-by-moment. When I feel the urge to figure everything out and take control, that’s when I must stop and let go all over again.
You’re my inspiration. Always grateful to you. Always.
Surrender is also a scary word for me J…I think this year, God has truly worked out ‘surrender’ in you. I see it over and over. love u
Thanks for the reminder…I have to go and find what my two words were….something wrong with that picture, huh?
Tom, you told me your words!!! I wish I had a good memory…let me know if you remember them 🙂
So true about purging all the “stuff” before simplicity can have it’s place…physically with our homes and spiritually!! 🙂 You have just what you need left to use day to day and spiritually all we need is Jesus. 🙂 My word was “choose” and I have done well in some areas and others…not so much. 😉 =P
Gina, choose…what a great (and scary 🙂 ) word! I think that word may just be KEY to everything…may we all choose well my friend~
Simplicity is a word that I am also trying to incorporate into my life. Purging things, organizing the chaos I have in my house, etc. God is sure showing me that I think complicated thoughts and to focus more on what’s important.
Praising Christ for peace in your heart!
Jaebelle, that’s exactly what I’m learning! Complicated thoughts keep me from focusing on what’s important. Blessings to you dear one on your journey of simplicity xo
Coincidentally- yes- I wrote about my word today too. I can sense the peace you must feel through all the chaos you endured and survived. You described it so aptly- the release of a deep breathe- exactly. Sending love and blessings to you! When you get a minute, email me details for next week 🙂 We’re still working on arrangements, but we’re all set!
My word has been Patience. I have always had a problem learing to wait and be calm. This year I have gained patience but I am still trying to find peace with the wait. Any ideas on how to do this?
Oh Lord, I forget my word tto….shows you that chaos has been around here too, huh? But, simplicity ahs taken over….sorta. As soon as this darn septic system is done maybe then we will have some PEACE. I am glad that chaos preceeds simplicity….I look forward to it. XOXO
WHERE do I put my URL to post my latest post??????
Just found your post on OneWord and also checked out the website – thank you! I am certainly going to do this in lieu of resolutions.
Nana~Hi! I’m so happy to meet you!!! If you do pick a one-word for 2013, I’d so love to know what you choose! I hope you come over and hang out with me often 🙂
