Remember my Hoooo Loves You? Gigi does! Blanket? I’m so lovin owls these days, here’s another Hoooo Loves You? Owl…this time on a tiny owl baby hat!
This owl baby hat started out as a Halloween outfit for brand new granddaughter Lucy Jean to wear Saturday at our big Chili Cook-Off. But really this is so cute and easy I thought it would be a fun little gift to make for Christmas or for a baby shower!
Hobby Lobby sells these darling crocheted baby caps for under $4.00! I bought a brown one with a little owl in mind…
I made Yo-Yo’s for the big bright eyes. I was gonna tell you how to make them but there’s a GREAT tutorial at Hello my Name is Heather!( HERE.) Don’t be afraid to try Yo-Yo’s, you do them by hand and they’re super easy! I cut out a tiny beak with my pinking shears and used Wonder Under to iron it onto the cap.
I pinched and sewed two little ears can you see them? I decided to add pigtails to the ears…just ’cause! I made them by wrapping yarn around a piece of cardboard…
…slipping it off-tying together one end-cutting the other end and sewing the fluffy yarn onto the ears of my baby owl hat!
And since I’m a girly-girl my little owl had to have eye-lashes!
Wouldn’t this be a cute stocking stuffer for the baby in the family or a great little baby shower gift? The cap fits Newborn to 18 Months!
Lucy was going to wear this cap and an adorable onesie with owls all over it to the Chili Cook-Off on Saturday…but Lucy’s little Mom, Emma changed her mind and came up with something even cuter! (It’s a surprise!)
Sending love your way my friends…xo
