Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, the last week of Jesus’ earthly life…the final days in His journey to the cross.
A time set aside to focus on the suffering of Christ.
Whenever I read in the gospels about that celebratory ride into Jerusalem, with the crowds waving palm branches and worshiping saying: “Hosanna in the highest-Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”, my heart aches.
I wonder if He his heart ached too, knowing that this crowd would, just a few days later, sling insults at Him and call for His death on a cross.
We are a fickle people.
This morning, Palm Sunday, I pray for the Spirit to help me to observe this Holy Week…to allow my heart to open to His suffering in order that I might be filled anew, with gratitude for His sacrifice.
~Sending you love my friends~
me too.
