“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”
Since the house is decorated in a snowy-icy-wintery theme (Christmas in the Den HERE, Christmas in the Dining Room HERE), I thought a party favor that gave the promise of spring would be nice.
I picked up some paperwhite bulbs for under $1.00 a bulb…
At the Dollar Store, I found decorative rocks and glass vases.
Forcing paperwhites couldn’t be simpler… just fill a little over 1/2 the vase with rocks then place the bulb root side down and add a few more rocks to keep the bulb secure-add water to cover rocks and a small portion of the bottom of the bulb. Don’t add too much water or the bulb will rot, 2/3 of the bulb should be above the rocks and water.
I added ribbon and hearts that remind me of both Christmas and Valentine’s Day, because just before February 14th these pretties will bloom and bring the promise of spring just when we need it most…
A few of the favors have snowflakes!
I planted these, just a week before I did the party favors…look how much they’ve grown already!
