This is Part 4 in A Week In The Life…come on in if you dare…
5th Day
It’s Saturday. My eyes flew open at about 6 am. I was afraid to move in case it was the middle of the night. But it wasn’t, Praise Be!!! I actually slept ALL NIGHT! Not even one hot flash.I wake The Husband to tell him but I don’t get the impression that he cares.
Sipping my coffee I realize that I’m cautiously optimistic.
And although The Husband suggested I do it, I did not make a deal with the devil to eliminate the hot flashes ….I promise. Some nights my hormones get bored of torturing me and I get a break. And last night was the night. Did I already say Praise Be!?!?!?
Weight Watcher’s gives you extra points to spend/eat! (35extra! Remember, I only get 18 per day, so 35 EXTRA is like…well, it’s like A MILLION!) You can use them a little at a time or use them on the weekend. I am going to eat some or heck maybe all of these points today. For this reason alone, today promises to be a good day.
It’s amazing to me what a difference a day can make. (This is yet another lesson. Aren’t I perceptive?)

The Husband and I went to Yellow Daisy Festival, which is an arts and craft show and Autumn’s right of passage. Then we hit up Ted’s Montana Grill for lunch! I’m just tickled with joy…can you feel it!? I had a Bison Burger and Fries. I’ve snubbed my pudgy nose at bison burgers for years. But apparently bison truly has less fat than beef and fat = points Peeps. So I took the plunge and had a bison burger.
The picture below says it all.
Today was glorious with my eating. Also, I baked!!! WooHoo! It was a Weight Watchers recipe for Oatmeal Pecan Lacy Cookies! They are divine! Crunchy and chewy all at the same time! Oh what joyful yumaliciousness they were! Yes, I said were. I ate them all (almost). And still stayed within my points. (The recipe didn’t make that many … really) I think this for the first time today: Weight Watcher’s isn’t bad. I might just like this.I think I can do it…

Okay, here’s the thing: my no good, dirty rotten hormones are calming down and I feel just a tad more positive. It’s bedtime and I’m not over full and I had fun eating my extra food.
I pray to God I’ll sleep tonight and my insides will not burst into flames. This menopause thing is just ridiculous. And that’s a fact.
But for the moment, I think I will live.

Hey Robin!! Sorry it’s been so long since my last visit! I haven’t had a lot of time for blogging or blog reading since the kids got back in school. I just have to say that I LOVE THIS SERIES!! Why??? I CAN *SO* RELATE!! 😉

I just read yesterday’s post… my comment would be to ask you if you think that a sort of grieving process occurs with menopause too? Albeit, a healthy dose of hormones is the culprit for the tears, but the tears express something also I think? Hmmm… food for thought.
So glad though to see a more balanced day for your Saturday. Great graphics, and bison can taste good if it is seasoned well. Am filing away weight watchers for future reference. Thanks for your sweet words.

Glad to see there the flashes took a break……I’ve been doing the Flat Belly Diet and I do feel better. Here’s hoping the old thyroid works and I get a metabolism again!!! 🙂 Add that to hormonal issues and it’s UGLY…..so I understand, my friend.

I enjoyed your post so much Robin! I have been having hot flashes for 5 years now, so I can relate. The first couple of years they did wake me up during the night but no longer…they are ALL day time! If I must have them, it is nice being able to sleep all night. Each year I keep hoping and praying that this will be my last but have heard it can go on for up to 10 years!!!
Glad you found Weight Watchers. I know many people who have had good results with it. I may look into it at some point as I put on weight this past year without even trying! Ahh, isn’t this fun! :0)
I am SO HAPPY for you that you got some RELIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And BAKED!!!! And ate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED A COOKIE:):):):) Love ya! Pinky
Pinky…it’s almost the weekend again and heaven help me I’m gonna bake again! Even if it’s a Weight Watcher’s recipe…at least it’s baking!
Love to your sweet self~
