I saw this cute little vest at Old Navy (below) that I thought would be perfect to wear in between seasons when I want to look kinda “fallish” but the temps in Atlanta are still in the upper 80’s and 90’s…I’m not kidding about the temps, sigh.
That same day I found a really cheap brown button up sweater. The sweater was too big and my mind immediately started cutting it apart making it fit and making it look like that vest!
Then I cut the bottom off the sweater…
I hemmed all the rough edges including the bottom piece. When I hemmed the bottom it ruffled a bit as knits are prone to do. Then I sewed a loose basting stitch at the top of the ruffly bottom piece making it a little more ruffled…Then just sewed the ruffled piece back to the bottom of the now smaller-vest…
While it didn’t turn out as cute as the “real” vest, I’ve worn it several times and really like it! And it was about 1/4 of the price!
Happy in between seasons!
I’ll be linking my friends…
All I can say is, “Wow.”
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
And I love it. It’s even my color.
What an adorable sweater! You did a fabulous job!
Such a cute fit to it too 🙂 I so admire the vision you have for this sort of thing, truly inspired.
