Adding clavos to our entry door made a big difference! We added these beautiful, rustic clavos to the arched Tudor entry door that The Husband made! (The DIY of the door posted: HERE)
Here’s an up close and personal picture of a clavo. Clavos are used to give rustic detail to doors and cabinets. (Clavo is actually just the Spanish word for nails!)

Tudor style doors as well as other rustic doors are often accented with clavos, and I see why! They make a pretty significant difference, don’t ‘cha think?
The Husband wanted to add these all along but I wanted to get the door up and live with it for a few weeks before I committed to putting umpteen holes all over the place!
But as usual, The Husband was right! I love the look…
Just for grins, here’s the progression of the entry. We keep changing little things like adding the clavos, adding bigger lanterns and topiaries to the urns.
Detail and scale make a big difference in design don’t they?
So what do ya think? Wait…if you don’t like it, I’d rather you not say because at this point there’s no going back 🙂
~Sending you ever-so-much love today my friends~

Yes, they add a perfect detail to the door love it.
Have a great weekend, Robin!
Yep, looks great!!
thanks Deb! xo
I think if that were my door, I would get up every morning and open it first thing to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. It’s gorgeous!!!
I still can’t get over what a fabulous door your husband made!! The addition makes it even more fab! 😉
The door is simply stunning in its original form- but seriously, the nails- the clavos were just the right finishing touch to it. Do you know what I love equally? How you modeled a wonderful compromise of him letting you sit with the door sans clavos for awhile and then you allowed him to add them. Love that… xxoo
I just love this door!!! Can your husband come make me two??!! I love the clavos….it takes it to a whole new level!! Excellent work!!~~Angela
I was like clavos???? I love the door, but the clavos adds so much detail. Aren’t we the little perfectionist? LOL…..Have a great weekend and I hope you got my email.
Beautiful, I’m pinning it. Makes me want my door back to wood. Dog wrecked it years ago and it’s been painted every since – which of course I never get the color quite right.

Your door is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Both you and your husband should be SOOOOO PROUD!! GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you so much Jane xo
Wow wow wow! What a huge difference not only did that gorgeous door make to your entry, but the clavos, too! It looks soooo rich and royal, Robin! Love it!

I love it! You have a beautiful front entry! Our oldest daughter lives in Georgia, wish we did too! Would love to have plants and flowers around all year long!
Genny, it’s a small world with your daughter in Georgia! xo
Absolutely love the door! It was beautiful from the start, but adding the clavos took it over the top. I don’t think you’ll ever be able to move to another house because how could you leave such a beautiful door?!
Are you kidding? Who wouldn’t LOVE this???? Mike did an amazing job and I love the new clavos. I never had heard that before. Beautiful. XO, Pinky
Thank you Pinky xoxo
