I have this “gift”.
I can make a frenzy out of even the simplest moments.
Between my mind bombarding me with “worse-case-scenarios” and worry about what “might” be…my brow is all-too-often wrinkled, my shoulders all-too-often clinched, my moments all-too-often missed…
No kidding. Ask The Husband. It’s a “gift” that keeps on giving and is made markedly worse by my ‘age and condition’.
(Age: oldish. Condition: Peri-Menopause)
But God in His mercy has graced me with my granddaughter, Elliot Gwen…or Ellie as I call her.
She is teaching me about the sacredness of my moments.
*****
Ellie smiles about the simplest of things…like walking down a sidewalk.
And there’s always something to ponder, but no need to worry. After all, you’re holding the hand of Someone who loves you more than life…
And you can always take time to get up close and personal with all things wonderful. Even the tiniest of things.
And stopping to smell the flowers…well that’s just a given.
Even when things aren’t so beautiful, pause. You may see something worth reflection…
And there’s no greater joy than showing someone you love…how much you love them…
This tiny girl is teaching me so much.
I’m going to take deep breaths today my friends and enjoy my moments, after all, I know Who’s hand I’m holding…
Maybe there is something to the words of Jesus: “Except we become as little children.” Loved the pics robin! Ellie is a cutie. Must take after her grandma. 🙂

Bill…thank you for the reminder of that scripture…I think it’s about time I became like a little child…hugs.
Good morning Robin~ This is a great post!
The pictures of Ellie are so cute it is hard to describe. Tugging on my heart strings. Those little cutoff jeans are too cute and Ellie smelling the flowers, just precious.
Children have a way of bringing us back to the simple and most important things in life. TIME spent looking at the world through their eyes and on their level. Thank you for sharing these special moments.
Brenda, I don’t know another soul who is so good at living their moments. Your joy inspires me. xo
Precious, precious, precious!! Sweet post and sweet pictures!!
Ummmmm. I love, love this post. Thank you.
P.S.
I believe your “Gift” is the photography and a heart big enough to share your love with others through your writing.
Enjoy your day~
Robin,
That is all so incredibly true isn’t it!
I notice the same thing with Izzy around. Just a little time in the pool makes her so happy and relaxed. Amazing how it also makes you feel like there is a need to “take time to enjoy the small things in life”.
Teri…I bet you do notice it with Izzy. How blessed we are my friend~xoxo
Well that’s a first! “Age and condition”
with explanation: )
“Let the little children come to Me, and
do not forbid them; for such is the
kingdom of God. ” Mark 10:14.
Unusually creative combining of words
and photos ~ beautiful.
Daddy, only YOU would understand “age and condition”!
And I’m beginning to understand just what Jesus meant when He said:
“for such is the kingdom of heaven…”
love u the most.
I love this post. So beautiful. Ellie is so perfect I want to kiss her cheeks 🙂
Bekah…love u sweetie. Give yourself a kiss for me would ya?
I can definitely relate to this post…ALL of it!!! :0) Ellie is adorable!
Here are a few of my favorite grandparent quotes:
Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.
A garden of Love grows in a Grandmother’s heart.
One of the most powerful handclasps is that of a grand-baby around the finger of a grandfather.
Grandchildren are God’s way of compensating us for growing old.

I’m crying…love it!
Oh, she is so adorable! I’m sure you could just eat her up. 🙂
Wonderful post! The pics alone are adorable, but my heart was absolutely warmed with the connection to “Whose hand I’m holding”. As a parent, I can so relate to that simple but powerful image. Thank you so much for this beautiful reminder! Hugs to you, Robin!
