Hello my sweet friends~I pray that whatever you’re doing today, you’re walking in peace.
That’s my prayer for myself as well.
Right now, while The Husband is working on the basement, I’m trying to finish up the kitchen on Stone House Lane.
To pull things together I’m doing a bit of painting (surprise!), sewing and a little internet shopping.
First the sewing project…
We have a bar here at the new house, which we didn’t have in the old house, so I had to find a few bar stools and some comfy cushions.
I’ll tell you about the bar stools in a moment, but first remember that gauze ruffled skirt I got at the thrift store? (I used it to make a ruffled table runner HERE) I used more of the ruffles for the cushions. I also had a soft teal blue flat sheet in my fabric stash that I thought would be perfect!
This is an easy project…
Cut off a row of ruffles from the skirt and cut out squares from the sheet to fit over your chair cushion…
Then pin the ruffle to one of the squares – right sides together –
Now put the other square right side down on top of the ruffle and sew the 3 pieces together on three sides leaving the back side open.
Hem the open side to finish the edge & turn right side out.
Sew a top stitch around the outside edge on three sides for added strength…
Super easy! Especially when you have ready-made ruffles!
To finish the cover off, add ribbon or fabric ties to the back open edge so you can tie the cushion to the chair.
Don’t you love the way the gauze ruffle falls?
I made three and I love them!

About the bar stools…
I saw these at Crate & Barrel but I didn’t want black – I don’t mind painting them but I thought if I pay $170.00 a chair, I don’t really want to paint!
So I kept looking…I found these online at JCPenny! (for $100.00!)They were off white with a yellowish undertone which didn’t look quite right with the white undertones in the kitchen so I painted them! (Behr Ultra Pensive Sky)
This is my new favorite place to have breakfast and check my email tand Ellie loves to sit here while I’m cooking so she can talk to her Gigi!

And for my animal loving buds…here’s an update on Bella the pup:
Thanks to God in heaven, who hears our prayers even on behalf of a tiny pup, (Not a single sparrow “will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father ” Matt. 10:29) Bella is doing much better.
We have an amazing vet, Dr. Ray (Olde Towne Animal Hospital) Dr Ray and his assistant Kelley, have as usual, gone above and beyond.
We’re using anti-inflammatory meds and sedatives to treat Bella and she’s responding very well.
She’s enjoying a special diet of chicken breast and pumpkin and she’s resting in her crate, which she doesn’t really mind as long as the crate is in the room with us. So we’re staying home this weekend, close to Bella.
If you think of us please whisper a prayer for Bella, she’s not out of the woods yet…
Enjoy your moments today my sweet friends, because those moments… they matter…
xo
~Happy Weekend my friends~
So beautiful Robyn, great inspiration today!
Loving the cushions!
Cindy
Oh, Robin, they turned out so lovely! What a smart idea to use a skirt to make the ruffles! I had no idea chair covers were so simple to make! What a beautiful space! 🙂 Glad your sweet Bella is improving & will def say a prayer for a full recovery soon! 🙂
Awww, I hate it when my dogs are sick. 🙁 I hope she gets better soon. Having a good vet makes all the difference. I love my vet!! I have one about five minutes from my house but I make the 45 minute trek to mine!! 🙂 How sweet to have your grand daughter sit at the bar while you’re in the kitchen. 🙂
Prayers for Bella…..Hope she has a quiet and restful weekend and recovers soon.
PS…great job with the cushions!
I love these chair cushions! Thank you for sharing with us. I’m praying for Bella.
Could I sign up for sewing lessons? It wasn’t part of my childhood. 🙂
I’m lifting sweet Bella in prayer!
Your creativity always inspires me Robin. I sew but am not a seamstress. This project looks like something I could even do. I have chair cushions on my kitchen chairs but would like to change their look. I think I’ll put this project on my “To DO’ list. :0) Prayers are being said for poor, sweet Bella!
Robin- This is such a cute project. I don’t think you ever have a craft fail. Prayers for your sweet Bella. I understand how you feel. My old dog died today- while I am very sad I hated to see him sick. Thanks for all the time you put in your blog to help us in our own homes.

Fabulous cushions. I usually try and wait until Pier 1 has them on sale…. Maybe sewing your own isn’t so bad… 🙂
Love you website, beautiful ideas. The sweet words of wisdom are lovely. Thanks & God bless.
I was just wondering what you stuffed your cushions with. Please let me know when you get a minute.
Hi (Diasieg1), I bought cheap chair cushions at Walmart and covered them! I’m happy to meet you by the way and hope to talk again soon! xo
Thanks so much; I appreciate the info!
Diana, no problem! Good luck on your project!!! I’d love to see them if you decide to sew some! ox
