I’ve been doing a bit of sewing over the past few weeks and I’ve so enjoyed going through my fabric stash. Fabric is only second to paint in my “things that inspire” list ๐
Last year I bought a gauze skirt at the thrift store for a couple of bucks. I loved the soft way the fabric flowed and I loved the ruffles. The skirt has been tucked away in a basket until last week. Pulling it out I was immediately inspired to do a few projects in our kitchen. (Which I’m desperately trying to finish!)
In the same basket, I found this dreamy linen fabric. I’ve no idea where it came from…just something that spoke to me years ago that I tucked away for just this project…
Never has there been an easier sewing project. I simply cut the white linen to the width I wanted and hemmed the edges.
Then I cut a couple of rows of ruffles off of the skirt and sewed them, three on each end, to the linen!
I love it! If you can sew a straight line, which anyone can, you can do this project. And next time you’re in the thrift store look for ruffled skirts to use on projects. The only rule is : * you have to love the look and feel of the fabric
~Have an inspired day my friends~
I love it…and how simple it looks to make. I’ve seen similar ones in stores made from a natural color linen and white ruffles or printed ruffles on the ends. I had never thought to use skirts! I’m adding that to my permant “to look for” thrift store list ๐
My favorite part is how it fluffs like ocean waves. And I would have ironed it flat-flat-flat! Oh, your creativity!!!!
Darling! Love these ruffles, and I’m not a ‘ruffle’ gal ๐
I also love the ‘scrunching’. I do that too, which drives my mother nuts because she thinks she can’t do it, ha ha.
Have a blessed day and a wonderful walk! (love your pics)
That is adorable and YOU are clever and creative!!! I want to live next door to you!!!!! XOXO
