It’s finally getting warm here which has me thinking about all things beachy!
I made these shell topped bottles ! They are so easy to make the are really kinda dreamy in person 🙂
They’ve been on my to-do list since I saw the beautiful Coral Topped Bottles from Pottery Barn…
These are super easy and super quick so if you have a second, I’ll show you how!
Here’s what you’ll need:
*Bottles (found mine at Home Goods)
*Shells
*Twine or rope
*Bondo
*Hot Glue (for twine)
I searched for ways to secure the shells in the tops of the bottles…my original plan was to use hot glue because, well, I use hot glue for almost everything! But I found that the Wedding Chicks suggested using Bondo and I knew The Husband would have some in his work room… because he has random supplies like that! Sure enough, he did! (You can find Bondo at your home improvement store or if you’d rather…just use hot glue!)
For the larger bottle I added some masking tape just inside the mouth of the bottle to keep the Bondo from dropping down into the bottom of the bottle! (This is where hot glue might work better since it would adhere to the sides of the bottle neck)
Bondo has to be mixed in order to set…so mix and work quickly before it starts to dry!
Put a good amount in the mouth of the bigger bottle…
…and hold it in place for a minute until the Bondo gets hard and the shell is secure…
The masking tape worked like a charm to keep the Bondo in the opening of the bottle!
I used hot glue to adhere the twine to the Bondo and wrapped it (the twine) around and around until it looked just like I wanted–then hot glued the twine in place…
I love the way these turned out! And I’m looking for some pretty coral to make some more for the mantle!
Sending love my friends~ ox
Morning Robin
These are the best beachy/summer bottles. I collect old bottles like these and I live at the beach so I have tons of shells and goodies. I am going to try and make some. I love the soft colors of your bottles. Can’t wait to make them. Enjoy your day Robin, glad its warmer, its warmer here in CT also
