My Christmas Mantle is done…
Inspiration comes from the oddest places…
“Gigi, it’s almost Christmas and it hasn’t even snowed yet!”
Imagine a two year old lamenting in the saddest of voices.
I couldn’t bring myself to tell her that we live in the deep south and if we get even one snow day a year it’s a miracle. Sigh.
Such is the life of a Southern girl who longs for snow.
Then…
I saw this mobile in the Pottery Barn catalog loved it.
What could be better than simple white paper snow flakes hanging gloriously from the sky…I mean ceiling?
So, when I was decorating the den mantle this year, I thought I’d do a snow-day mantle.
For Elliot…
And for me…
~Can’t blame a Gigi for trying~
~Happy day my friends~
HERE is my Christmas Open House from last year
and if you like traditional colors: HERE is the little house decked out in Christmas red!
xo
Very elegant!
Best,
Susan
Love it…so very, very pretty 🙂 Laurel
Magical. Makes me wanna come dream on your couch. =)
You are the best Gigi! It looks so pretty.
Absolutely lovely!
Now that is definitely inspired….and very magical! Loving it!!!
So pretty. 🙂
Gor-gee-oo-soo! I love it, Robin. And what a beautiful memory for Ellie~
I looks amazing Robin. I’m doing a winter wonderland theme this year but nothing as beautiful as your mantel. I love it.
There just aren’t words to describe how PERFECT this is! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!
So beautiful Robin! I love that E wanted snow and you found it for her…you are one amazing Gigi! Love you, friend.
Gigi rocks! So pretty and snowy! It hasn’t snowed here yet either… and I’m doing a little dance of my own, but it will come- can’t think of a Christmas yet in which it hasn’t 🙂
Vicky…pls, let me know the moment you get your December snow :)xoxo
are these all strung on fishing line? i’d like to see a picture of the ceiling to see if you taped them or pushpinned them or how you got them to stay!
beautiful, gorgeous, marvelous, wonderful!
btw, got your message. don’t have my schedule yet, but it’s gonna be a tight week. i WILL make time for you in it though!!! i’ll let you know as soon as i know.
Jenn, they are strung on invisible thread, which is ah-nnoying to work w/ – fishing line would have been better! I uses thumb tacks into the ceiling and you cant even see them! (the ones hanging lower are just attached to the thread from the one above – so not that many thumb tacks in the ceiling!) xo
Ooooh, I LOVE it! It’s snowing in your den! ~Kerri
Tremendous idea, thank you.
Living in the deep south, I can make my own snow.
What a serene looking mantel. I love the snowflakes and I bet your granddaughter does too.
Gigi, you are so sweet. I hope Ellie loves her SNOWflakes! Hasn’t snowed here yet either, except back in OCTOBER….which was CRAZY!!!! Then we went to 63 in Dec.! It is COLD now, 37 right now. XO, Pinky
Hi, Robin.
I love the snowflakes! I have snowflakes on my tree this year, and I usually hang a few big ones from the ceiling over the dining room table. I have to save the pic of the Pottery Barn snowflake mobile. I’d like to try making one next year.
Blessings, and thanks for more eye candy.
Jean
After I saw this I thought I would try to do something like this- I could only find pink and silver snowflakes~ so this year we will dream of a pink Christmas.
Jen…dreaming of a pink Christmas…yes yes yes…I think pink snowflakes are even better than white! oxoxoxoxo
