We had a dusting of snow on Thursday! We’ve been getting ready for this snow dusting for 5 days. You know, it’s what we do here in the South. I’m not kidding when I say I went to the grocery store twice in preparation. I was compelled and I will tell you I wasn’t the only one, both times I was there the grocery store was super crowded!
It’s been so cold and with snow coming I locked all four pups upstairs in our bedroom and let Reba come hang with me. Now before you jump to conclusions about me leaving this adorable kitty outside read her story HERE (She has a great story!) She loves hanging with me in the kitchen…we watched for the snow…
And then rushed outside the moment it started! Reba didn’t know what to think about snow…
She’s a Southern kitty and doesn’t see much of the white stuff!
This is what I was doing while Reba was playing in the snow…look closely and see the falling snow…and my red flannel P-Jay-Jay ‘s which I changed into the moment I got home from the grocery store…my poor neighbors.
Just look at this sweet Kitty. She’s so loving the flurries on her little face.
I was busy taking pictures of the massive accumulation…
Reba was playing, playing , playing…
But here’s where I found her when I was done taking pics…waiting on me to go back inside!
This kitty loves being inside…
Eventually, Reba went back to her basement apartment and the pups came down stairs…Ollie went out for exactly 45 seconds and charged back in! He’s a Southern pup and practically Necked!
I promise not to bore you with any more flurry pics…but really, this is a BIG deal to this Southern girl who longs for snow…and for those of you who get more than a dusting…well, I’d love to see YOUR photos!!! I can’t get enough!
Love to you Peeps…it’s not going to get above 30* here today…so I’ll be sitting by the fire reading and snuggling with one of our furry friends.
CUTE pictures Robin!! Cullen didn’t mind our snow (3-4″) at first, and he wears a coat, but now with our temps in the single digits and windchills below zero – he’s not to thrilled about going out there!

We got about 4-5 inches of snow…We have to actually shovel the grass and the deck for my dachshund…she won’t go out in it unless we do…she is such a princess….this is our 2nd snow day in a row….I love turning my fireplace on and reading (I am reading THE HELP right now and loving it!)….as well as getting caught up on things…I love your term…”personal dormancy”—I would love to post pictures but I am not sure how to post them on a comment? It is single digits here in Kentucky/Ohio area with windchill below zero….Brrr! My husband is off today but is already out in it…the testosterone in him kicks in when he is told to not go out in it….I don’t fight it anymore because it is who he is…crazy male species!
Loved the snow, too! Could be our blizzard of 2010! Reba is beautiful!
Thanks for the posts on “a sense of place” and “personal dormancy”. Both terms are intriguing and I have been mulling them over…good food for thought.
Have a warm cozy snow day!
Any day I look at my sidebar and see a post from you with the word “snow” in it, is a very good day!! So happy to see the joy in all your words. Reba has just fit into your household far better than anyone could have imagined. Enjoy Robin! Stay warm!

Oh I love the snow here in Atlanta, well except for the crazy drivers! I’m staying home and I’m still in my warm snuggies. I will take some photos if I can talk myself to go outside and I’ll post them on my blog. Gotta love a cat who puts her face up to the snow falling on her face! My Charlie looks at it and says no way i’m going out it’s cold!
Reba is just beautiful and she looks so happy. 🙂
It is so cold here in Oklahoma City! It was 5 degrees this morning which is extremely unusual. The snow that fell here on Christmas eve is still in my yard. My dogs go out for 45 seconds too.
Reba looks so sweet on her little red chair cushion. I’m with you on the P.J.s. I used to do yoga pants all the time to spare my hubby’s dignity, but lately P.J. pants have just made more sense. I can’t go anywhere in this 3/4 inch blizzard, so why not be comfortable? Did you see the snowball Emmy made from the cars on fb? If not I’ll post it to you.
Hi Reba. Isn’t the snow pretty. Of course I don’t live in it and am nowhere near all the snowed in turns to slush snow. I’m a G.R.I.T.S too. I’ve lived in North Florida all my life.
What a good photographer you are. Those pictures are great. And that is the most adorable and beautiful kitty I’ve ever seen.
Warm hugs…Tracy 🙂

Your cat is one happy cat in the snow flakes. We are all snugs like bugs in a rug today. A little baking to warm up the kitchen today. Lots of hot coco for the little grandson and his Mom. Just a fun snuggly type day. Oh and I have watched the movie Cloudy with Meatballs twice today…a perk of being a grandmom:) I am having a bloggers tea at my house here in Atlanta and I would like to send you an electronic email but I need your email addy.
Joyce
Looks like she had a fun exploring, my kitties would be jealous to see her roaming outside 🙂

It’s cold here in GA right now. Your animals are nice. Not quite sure what to do in snow. Sandie
Well at least you got a little. We didn’t get any here in MS. Your kitty looks like she enjoyed it so much. Love your house!

Loved this snow post! As a lifelong ‘northerner’ it is really funny to hear how everything shuts down in the south with the littlest amount of snow. I live up in northwest Indiana and we got around 10″ over last Thurs & Friday. Check out my latest blog post, since you like checking out snow pics!
