I don’t know if I’ve ever been so happy that warmer days are just around the corner. I’m almost giddy over the daffodils in the back yard and the green on my spring mantle!
Isn’t it just amazing how a hard winter can make for a sweeter spring? Maybe our bodies crave the warmth of sunshine and our minds crave blue skies…
I’ve had emotional winters like that. One that comes to mind is when I was grieving after my mom passed away, I felt no joy for well over a year. Every moment was fuzzy and gray…
Then one Saturday morning, my daughter Stephanie and I met for breakfast on the square (in Marietta GA)…we sipped strong, creamy coffee and nibbled melt-in-your-mouth croissants (before Celiac). After breakfast we walked around looking in shop windows and I found myself laughing at things that weren’t all that funny…
I took in deep breaths and breathed out easy… I’d forgotten, during the months before, how good it felt to really breathe deep.
Joy surprised me that morning.
On a much smaller scale, there’s a hint of that feeling this year with spring tip-toeing in…my heart is full of joy and I want that same joy reflected in our home…
Are you getting your heart and your home ready for spring my friends? If you have time, I’d love to hear about it…
And if you need inspiration…here are a few of my friend’s spring mantles…
And HERE’s my Garden Theme Mantle from last year!
Spring time snuck in to North Central Florida a couple of weeks ago. AND I am happy. I need bright sunshine and warmer temperatures. I do!!!!
So I removed all the wintery things and brought out the soft greens and whites.
We here in NCF do not have the vast differences in seasons like the rest of the country 🙂 for that I am flea.. had my fair share living in NYC, Virginia and Colorado. But still, I am happy when thru trees break out in soft green leaves and blooms.
Happy Spring!!! A time of renewal.. rebirth!!
Hi Robin, I’m just getting to this post! I can so relate to this post. This winter my heart has not been happy. Due to some family issues and Lyme disease I’ve just watched each day pass. It’s still chilly in Ohio but I long for the sun and the warmth the late spring brings. I hope it will heal my soul. Today is Easter and It is a good day to begin rejoicing! Thank you for your post. Happy Easter!
Julie, Spring’s coming! I’m sorry you’ve had a rough few month…Prayers that the warm days ahead will bring you so much joy sweet one. xo
My mantel is blank now because I like to change it up with the seasons. I needed inspiration and here it is!
