The past couple of months have been anything but ordinary for us. It all started with Mike having 2 emergency surgeries and developing a DVT. Health issues can throw an ordinary life into chaos, but as each day passes, Mike’s recovering and as he gets better, we’re beginning to have a sense of blessed-ordinary normalcy.
We were only in the hospital for 9 days total, I know several people who’ve had/are having much longer hospital stays. Nevertheless, while we were there, time stopped. While we were there, we missed things. For one, we missed our annual summer vacation. That was a little disappointing, but ya know what? That wasn’t really a big concern. Our concern was getting back to simple rituals…
And slowly, we’re doing just that…Mike’s happily back at work and I’ve taken some time to do a little summer nesting…
We’ve been having our early morning coffee time outside next to the waterfall. Just Mike and I, sitting quiet while daylight softly chases away the dark.
We’ve spent a few Saturday mornings at the Farmer’s Market, filling our bags with ripe tomatoes and Georgia peaches.
Made cobbler. Twice.
Just stepping gingerly back into the extraordinary-ordinary that is our life together.
Before Mike’s illness, I would’ve told you that Mike and I don’t take things for granted. That we’re thankful for every day we have together…
But I gotta be honest, these days I’m seeing the divine in our ordinary and my thankful cup is overflowing.
Have a day full of extraordinary-ordinary moments my friends xo
