I’ve always wanted one… a Farm Sink. Some people call them Apron Front Sinks…
We call ours The Queen.
When it came right down to buying a kitchen sink, I was a bit intimidated by all the hoo-haa that goes along with installing a farm sink. These babies are high maintenance, they have to have supports to hold up the ample weight, the plumbing is a bit more difficult to hook up due to the cramped quarters in her nether-region, the base of the cabinet has to be redone to fit all her curves and she has to have her underpants( the cabinet doors) either modified or just plain re-made so her unmentionables don’t show!
But nothing intimidates The Husband, not even a super high maintenance kitchen vessel, so he insisted we put in a farm sink.
“I’ll figure out all the details” he promised. I never doubted him for a minute because that man is over-the-top amazing.
When we were moving we found these doors I had saved from an old armoire. The Husband made a headboard out of two of the bigger doors so I felt certain we’d find something great to do with these smaller ones.
“How about using these to cover up The Queen’s private parts?” I held one up like a trophy.
He wrinkled his brows but a week later…
TaaaaDaaaaa!
I told you, he’s amazing! (It wasn’t all that easy he had to shave down the inside to make them thinner, among several other adjustments!)
Overall The Queen was a lot of trouble but thus far she’s totally rockin the kitchen!
Reba-the-cat approves but resents the idea that there’s another Queen in the house besides her.
~Sending you love today my friends~
Amazing and yes this husband of yours is over the top with his ability and energy for these challenges. Sorry, I can not come up with a statement about the queen’s knickers that seems fitting. Cute story, wonderful looking kitchen!
Oh, WOW. I think, of everything amazing you and The Husband have done, this is my most favorite of all. Can’t wait to show MY husband tonight!!!!
Robin, love live The Queen! She’s stunning!!!!
Typo above. I meant LONG live The Queen!
It looks beautiful, Robin! You are truly blessed with a talented husband. I wouldn’t mind doing dishes in that lovely sink at all!
I love that you call it, uumm… her, The Queen! Fabulous job- both of you!
The QUEEN looks royally beautiful!!!!! Love her undergarments:):) You 2 are so dang clever. I didn’t have a choice on sinks in the new house….except if I wanted to spend a ton MORE $$$$, so went with what I got. I HATE stainless steel sinks but….I’ll learn to live with it. Yours is gorgeous and I am so happy for you and Mike. XO, Pinky
Lucky you have such a talented husband. The finished look is just gorgeous. Great idea to use those doors, beautiful finishing touch!
Jeannette
Oh she is stunning. I love it. Hugs, Marty
Love your new sink. It pays to save things, doesn’t it? 😉
A sink with a story, who wouldn’t love that? And is there anything that Mike can’t do? Seriously, I am not the only one married to Superman 🙂 Gorgeous!
I love that you re-purposed the doors off your old armoire, first into a headboard and now this project. The Queen turned out beautifully. You are making me want to grab a paint brush and paint everything in sight…..you do that a lot! I just adore your calm, soothing color schemes…..
Your queen is delightful and using those doors was a fantastic idea! I love the added detail they bring. I also think it’s great that it was your hubby who insisted on figuring out how to make the queen work for your kitchen! Great to have a man like that around! Can’t wait to see your progress!
Oh! She is so beautiful! …and those armoire doors are absolutely perfect support for her regalness. I cannot wait to see your finished kitchen!
Wow this is really what we need and I think your husband really did a great job and has the ability to make one.. Great job!
Loved this inspirational post. Have a soapstone laundry double sink and have toyed with idea of putting it in our present kitchen. Would require much planning but think it would become the Queen in our kitchen also!
