It’s officially the Christmas Season! Have you started decking your halls yet?
I’m working on our decorating and I’ve been thinking a lot about my years of being on a tight budget and making a lot of my Christmas decorations. I still love to make decorations and all the better if they’re quick and easy. With that in mind, I’ve been doing some 5 Minute Ornaments and here’s the latest, a tiny jar Christmas ornament…
These are made from little spice jars!
With a few 3D stickers tucked inside…
If you have 30 seconds, I’ll show you how quick you can whip one up!
Here’s What You Need
*Spice Jars
(I got mine at World Market, but you could use jars like these cuties: affiliate link:)
*Paint for lids (I used Americana Multi-surface in Deep Turquoise & Dark Scarlet)
*Stickers (I used raised, 3D type stickers)
*Bakers Twine or ribbon for hanging
*Little things to add that go w/ your theme
(for my stickers that were woodland creatures, I used reindeer moss, twigs, tiny pinecones. For the penguin stickers, I added fake snow and tiny pom poms as snowballs! Use something you have around the house or out in the yard!)
First paint your lids! This took 2 coats. If you have spice jars like this (with holes in the top), turn the lid to open 1/2 of large hole (like the red lid below). This will be perfect for your string…
Add things to your jar to make a little ‘scene’…I didn’t glue anything, just tucked the things inside…
To hang your ornament double knot the string and thread it through the 1/2 open hole in the lid. For other types of jars adjust the way you add your string. (for instance, if you use a mason jar type jar with no holes in the top, punch a hole in the center of the top for your string!)
This is a project your kids can do! And if you use things around the house, it’s super cheap too!
If your Little’s help, add the date to the bottom of the ornament…
I really wish I’d gotten more spice jars because these tiny ornaments look so cute on the tree…
How’s that for a cute 5 Minute Christmas Ornament!?
I’d love to see yours if you decide to make them! Post pics on my Facebook page! xo
