Hi Everyone! I’m Jennifer over at Town and Country Living and am happy to be here at Robin’s blog to share a little bit about my humble farm house with you. Thanks for inviting me, Robin!
My 100+ year old cottage style home has no formal entry way. You open the front door and walk smack dab into the living room. This has always bothered me because I like to use an entry way to make a first impression. ?So I set about creating a foyer of sorts?with the addition of a small desk and positioning the furniture to appear like an entry and not just an unused portion of the living room.
Now when guests walk in the front door, they’re greeted by a welcoming space … and by our kitty Stella.
The little cottage desk used to be black before I painted and decoupaged it.
The many drawers hold keys, mail that needs to be sorted, and other small paraphernalia.
This is one of my favorite spots in the house. I love the morning light that shines through the double window and it always brightens my spirits when I come down the stairs in the morning.
The sage is in bloom in the garden, so I tied a bunch to the top of the painted chair.
Just because.
Flowers are my favorite way of freshening up the rooms in my home. I also adore decorating with vintage books. For fun, I tucked fallen branches from my yard in the corner after giving them a quick coat of white wash to look like birch branches.
Since the entry way is the first impression to my home, I like to add pops of color.
More flowers from the garden are paired with a couple colorful birds.
What was once an awkward space right inside the front door is now a useful entry way.
I can easily change up the vignettes to suit the season and create a welcoming space.
