Watercolor painting has been my therapeutic outlet this summer. I’m not talking about painting real pictures, but just cheating and using watered down acrylics to paint a bit of Summer Art (anybody can do this) posted HERE and Watercolor Pillows posted HERE.
When my granddaughter Ellie spends the night, she likes to do a little craft. On this particular day we were inspired by all-things-summer and decided to paint pages and pages of ocean and sky.
Watering down our blue, green and white colors and dripping-spreading and swirling the watery paint on paper left us with dreamy skies and deep oceans. Now what to do with all that loveliness?
I remembered this little beauty from Hey Gorgeous…
Rhiannon used paint chips, which is just divine, but why not use pages from our afternoon of painting?
Once the paper dried, I took a punch and just punched away! An older child could totally do this, but Ellie’s only four!
Look at those scrumptious colors! You understand why I had to make something out of them right?
After I got them all punched out, I lined them up in a pretty order….
And taped twine to the back…again, an older kiddo could do this without any problem!
I used a mason jar lid for the frame, cutting a little wire mesh to fit inside the rim of the lid. You could use 2 sizes of embroidery hoops, wire coat hangers, small wire lamp frame, wire wreath frame…just google 🙂
When my ittie bittie frame was done, I just tied the strings of color onto the mesh.
Ours is smallish but you could do a bigger one with a bigger frame and a few more painted pages!
