Today I want to show you some waterfalls and water features from my Pinterest Board: All Things Water Features !
(all sources are listed below)
I love a good Pinterest board! I use them to collect inspiration for a room or an upcoming project, something about having all my inspiration in one place helps me narrow down exactly what I like. When we’re about to start a new project, big or small, I pull up those Pinterest boards and The Husband and I brain storm! We’ve been doing that with my Water Feature Board because this weekend The Husbands starting the back yard project which includes a small waterfall.
Do you like the idea of a waterfall in your yard? We’ve never had one but last year when we were looking for a house we looked at several homes with beautiful water features in the back yard and we loved the soothing sound of water flowing over rocks.
Here’s Deb and Dean’s (my sis & brother in law) waterfall, which is about my favorite EVER! (Posted HERE)
In researching water features I found some really big ones and even though our waterfall will be smallish in scale, I love seeing these that look like they’re connected to a big body of water..
Fitting a waterfall seamlessly into the landscape, is I think, one of the biggest challenges when designing a water feature. I keep telling this to The Husband because he’s the one designing…
Adding a bit of your own personality into the design is kinda nice…my ittie bittie granddaughters would love this yard…
And this one…
As much as I love ponds and the idea of having fish and frogs, I’m too much of a worrier with my 4 tiny girls running around…
So we’re going with a pondless waterfall…
I’d love to tell you how ours is going to look but I have a hard time picturing it! The Husband, on the other hand, has the design in his head and gets a little frustrated when I can’t conjure up the image! I keep asking questions and he keeps explaining it, talking slow and loud like I’m a two year old … If I hear: “can’t you picture it?” one more time 🙂
Actually, I’m glad he can get a vision for his projects. He and I make a pretty good team, he’ll rough it out and then, when I can see it in real life I’ll be able to add a few finishing touches!
So it begins today with 1 million tons of something being delivered (I’m exaggerating a little 🙂 ). Tomorrow our friend Jason is coming with a caterpillar to start leveling space for the paver patio and digging out a little place for the waterfall…and in case you’re wondering, it hasn’t escaped us that we’re starting an outdoor project in June when the temps are soaring in the deep south! We must be nuts but I really would love for the yard to be ready to host our annual Fall Party in October! (Here’s all the 411 on the Fall Parties!)
If you have a water feature in your yard and have some advice for us, we’d love to hear it! And if you’d like to see more of my waterfall / water feature inspiration, head over to the pinterest board: All Things Water Features !!!
Have a restful weekend my friends ~ if you need us, we’ll be in the yard!
