I haven’t done a project in weeks (because of Mike’s long hospital stay) and I was itching to make something pretty! So I grabbed my favorite go-to decorating and DIY tool: paint and transformed these sweet little Ikea wicker chairs…
I love the shape of these chairs and in just over an hour, they turned dreamy with a little help from Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paints...
This is how these tiny gems looked when I got them home from Ikea…pretty… but a bit plain.
Not to worry…all they needed was a little paint-love & everything changed!
If you’ve never tried Chalky Finish paints- seriously, pick out something in your home-something on the ordinary side…and then pick out a color that makes you smile…
Then watch the magic happen!
I used Vintage, Serene and Smitten…because if one color is great, three colors are fantastical!!!
If you’re thinking of painting wicker, rest assured- you don’t have to have a complete coverage. A little of the natural color showing through adds to the charm…
I can’t tell you how therapeutic this was for me. I lost myself in these soft – scrumptious colors…
Goodness gracious peeps…I absolutely adore these chairs…
Did I mention that these are kid’s chairs? Lucy Jean loves them too…
They grace the front porch of our indoor closet playhouse…
Now it’s your turn!!!

So wonderful to see you back doing projects, again! Beautiful work~ and am hopeful you and Mike are enjoying sitting in them surrounded by the pups and grands running about.
Robin I just love the soft blue tones that you also enjoy. They are serene and peaceful. This summer I am going to finish a 1940’s tall chest of drawers in a chalky finish. I’ve never refinished anything valuable before or used chalky paint. This was part of my parents’ first furniture and eventually became mine. I’m scared I’ll ruin it. I don’t want it distressed. ..just painted and waxed in a light gray. If it works out, I’ll attempt the dressing table. Any advice for a new comer? I plan to replace the hardware as some pieces are broken or lost. It’s a solid piece but the top is veneered and rough from 60years of use. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. I’m glad Mike is improving.
Mari that makeover sounds amazing! DecoArt has a bunch of videos to help you – I think I’ve watched them all 🙂 One thing that comes to mind is that I would go ahead and invest in the brush…it’s great for waxing your projects… here’s the link to the 1st video: xo (would love to see pictures when you’re done!!!)
