Fall is coming.
It’s true, Labor Day is over and the September equinox is a mere 2 weeks away and I’ve gotta tell ya, I couldn’t be more excited! Although I dearly love all four glorious seasons, autumn has my heart. Where I live, summer means: scorching hot and suffocatingly humid days for weeks on end. So when that first fresh wind of fall blows in, I throw open the doors and put on a pot of chili and buy apple cider by the gallon!
Right now, even as temperatures climb into the 80’s, I’m getting the inside of our house fall-ready.
The other day, I made this little wreath…
Sometimes, I don’t follow the rules when it comes to appropriate seasonal colors. I had this pretty, minty lace…so I thought, why not paint a few acorns in pastel colors and just go with it!? The wreath couldn’t be any easier…just wrap lace (or ribbon) around a wood embroidery hoop using hot glue to keep it in place…
Paint some acorns (these are fake acorns that I got at Hobby Lobby!) to match your lace or ribbon (I went over the dry pastel painted acorns with a sheer metallic champaign color to give them a little sheen)
Add a stick to the center of the hoop (you might need to drop a little hot glue onto the stick to secure it)…
Hot glue your acorns on…kinda like a little acorn bow 🙂
And then add some cute woodland friends – (Use hot glue )
Add a burlap ribbon for hanging and there you have it!
This would be ever-so-adorable in traditional fall colors of course! It took no time to make this sweet little wreath!
Have you gotten excited about the seasons changing or are you sad to see summer end?
And while we’re talking about the seasons changing, are you doing a little fall nesting ?
Sending love my friends~ ox

I love this kind of embroidery hoop wreath, your little autumnal one is so cute. I think the colours are beautiful together – non traditional for this time of year but it works really well.
