Update! It’s the end of 2014!!! HERE are all my YEAR OF RECKLESS CRAFTING Projects!
I thought I should let you know that 2015 is going to be a year of reckless crafting. Reckless you say? Yep. This is about as reckless as I get…crafting outside of my comfort zone…or doing anything outside of my comfort zone really. Can you relate at all?
I decided early in January that I’m going to work my way through my local craft store doing projects from…are you ready? From: EVERY CATEGORY.
Did you even know there were ‘categories’ in craft stores? Well, there are and if you’re like me, you are really familiar with a few of those categories or materials..say paint, paper or glue…and when you do projects (if you’re like me), you use those familiar elements over and over and over.
As for me, if I’ve used terra-cotta once…
Or twice…
Or three times…
Or four…
I’ve used it a thousand times! You get the point…I love to stay in my comfort zone by using the same materials over and over for project after project!
Nothing really wrong with that, but this year I really want to move out of that zone, so I’ve decided to create projects from every single category!
I wasn’t going to tell you until I’d worked my way through most of the year, you know, in case I got nervous and went back to that comfort zone..but I’m a terrible secret keeper…so …shhhhh, don’t tell anyone but I’ve already started hanging just outside the zone.
Although I was totally intimidated by melting wax this was super fun …BeesWax Candles
And I haven’t worked with felt in ages…but really I loved making these Little Hand Warmers for little pockets!
This sweet Doily Wreath took no time at all…(and was a bit of a cheat since it was similar to my Coffee Filter Wreath!)
Some categories, like paper-crafts require more than one project…I’m thinking I’ll do a dozen projects with paper…sewing these little hearts was a 5 minute project and you could do it with any shape!
I’ve been looking at etching cream for soooo long- but I figured it wouldn’t really work…but etching glass works and I so love this process, that I’ve got a couple more projects lined up using etching cream…
Don’t get me wrong though…I won’t be leaving behind my go-to favorites…a few weeks ago when I wanted to try this fake moss, of course I decided to use it on my favorite thing…
Anyhoo…I’m going to try to keep my projects simple and on-trend…it should be fun!
Would you like to take the challenge and do a year of reckless crafting?
If so, let me know and I’ll get a list of categories together and maybe even put up a weekly linky so you can link up your projects ! (Or if you don’t have a blog, you could email me pictures and I could post them!)
Here is what I’ve done so far!
Who knows, maybe this will be a catalyst for me to step out of my comfort zone in other areas…maybe I’ll start eating sushi or wearing lime green!
Have a safe but reckless day my friends ~ 🙂
Robin you do fabulous work and I can’t wait to see what the future projects will be. Love that doily wreath.
Diana, thanks so much honey! Sending love xo
One of these days, you and I are going to walk through a Hobby Lobby store together. I want you to explain the aisles to me–talk me through it. I never know what to do in craft stores!! They sorta intimidate me!
Love,
Your BFF.
Julie…if you and I ever do walk through a craft store, you might find you’re hooked! 🙂 xo
Sounds like fun, Robin! Looking forward to seeing what projects arise out of your big adventure! xxxooo
Thanks Eileen…It’s going to fun 🙂 ox
You rock, you reckless woman, you! I love this idea, Robin. I’m doing a lot of things outside my comfort zone this year, and I love the idea of crafting this way. I’ll definitely keep checking in to see what you’re up to, and maybe try a few projects myself! xo Gigi

Sorry for the multiple postings! My computer suddenly went a little nuts!
Gigi, doing things outside my comfort zone does NOT come natural for me…is it easy for you? (It’s really easy for Mike 🙂 ) xo
