If you have a birthday to celebrate in September, October or November; might I suggest you consider a Birthday Party in the Park!?
I mean can you think of anything better as summer fades and fall brings us a chill in the air than having an outdoor picnic to celebrate a birthday? I’m reposting this from last November because in all fairness…if you’re celebrating a fall birthday, you gotta start planning now 🙂
So, come with me sweet friends while I look back at last November and maybe you’ll get an idea or two for an upcoming party ~ xo
Our tiniest granddaughter Finley Rane’ (Renee) turned 1 this month! My daughter Stephanie and SIL Jon threw the best birthday party for Finley…the theme was a picnic in the park!
Steph ordered all the containers online…she also found packets of mayo and mustard online and packed them in tiny bags…
It was a chilly afternoon so she had hot spiced cider…(Trader Joes)
The menu was simple but ever-so-delicious…
~Turkey with Havarti & Arugula Sandwiches
(packets of mayo & mustard so guest could add their own condiments)
~Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches
~Caprese Pasta Salad
~Potato Salad
~Fruit Salad
~Cheese Sticks
~Chips
Everyone packed their own lunches in these paper sacks…Jon put down quilts here and there, so all the guests could picnic sitting at tables or on the quilts…
The party favors were whistles and fruity snacks…
Almost forgot… desserts!
Stephie made S’More Bars & Big Bodacious Blondies (I posted the blondie recipe HERE)Finley’s Nana made these adorable cake pops!
And for a gluten free treat I brought along some of my FAVORITE cookies… White Chocolate-Cranberry-Walnut Cookies – (Posted HERE)
I’ve told you to try these babies…you won’t be disappointed peeps!
There was of course a tiny cake for FinBear…
And presents…
And thanks to PopPop there were some ginormous bubbles!
FinBear’s big sister Ellie was sick that day. In this photo she was cold and wearing my sweater, while she was at it, she decided to put on my glassed and pretend to be Gigi…
Our second granddaughter, LucyJean had plenty of fun with The Husband…I mean PopPop!
The only granddaughter who wasn’t at the party was Hartley who was watching her mom run a marathon in Chattanooga… 🙂
If your little one has a birthday autumn or spring you might want to consider this picnic in the park theme…it was one of my favorite birthday parties ever!
My heart overflows with gratitude my friends…this was a very good day.
Sooooooooooooooooooo sweet! Love Em’s pictures and the whole feel of this party. And glad you put it together like this in such a beautiful memory–preserved forever.
We both know how fast these moments fly.
Love you.
Totally adorable. Made me smile on this stressful Friday morning. I took a moment to take a deep breath, “destress” and looked at your blog. Now I’m ready to take on the day. Counting my blessings instead of stressing about what “might” happen. Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend!

Rose, I just emailed my daughter to ask her about the source for the boxes and containers. I’ll get back to you soon if she can remember ! I should have put the source in when I wrote the post…I’m so sorry!

Carrie, I’m soooooo sorry! My daughter has looked for receipts and on her internet history and can’t find/remember the sites she ordered from! We’ve been asked this several times and I could kick myself for not adding it to the post in the beginning! I can only recommend that you google and find the best price…that’s what she did! xo

I found this post looking for ideas for my daughter’s first birthday in September 2017. I see that this post is from years ago, but I had to comment because this is the first time I’ve ever seen reference to another girl with the same name… Hartley. =) Hartley Selene is my daughter. Thank you for sharing!
