I’ve done a couple of DIY Coaster projects in the past but this is my all time favorite!
It could well be because I’m in mad love with Terra Cotta these days but mad-love aside, these coasters are super quick and easy and wouldn’t they make a great hostess gift or party favor for spring or summer?!?!
Before I show you how to make these cute Terra Cotta Coasters let’s look at some other DIY Coasters I’ve done:
#1~ Terra Cotta Coasters- I’ll show you how in just a sec!

#3~Stamped Coasters – Tutorial HERE
#4~Napkin Coasters- Tutorial HERE
The DIY Terra Cotta Coasters might be the easiest of all these little coasters! Just grab a few terra cotta saucers from the Home Depot, they’re less than a dollar each!
Then paint them! I used the ‘Aging Terra Cotta’ Technique I posted about HERE
I have been aging my terra cotta flower pots like crazy but I still had a little of this Stone Texture Spray (from Home Depot)
And all ya do is spray-let dry(for at least 2 hours)- sand until you like the look…
Wipe some watered down craft paint on the terra cotta- (I used white and sage green)…let dry & sand again.
Then I used the left over burlap stenciled ribbon from my Table Runner posted HERE & the Add Burlap to a Table posted HERE and cut circles to fit into the bottom of the saucers. Using Mod Podge on the bottom of saucer–add the burlap circles and add more Mod Podge on top of the burlap…let dry completely.
Spray with 2 coats of Rust Oleum Polyurethane and add felt circles or cork to the bottom of the coasters.
Great idea!
You are on a roll with the burlap and you rocked it again. I love the coasters!
How cute! The burlap adds alittle something. I really like the paint technique too.
This I can do! I love terra cotta as well but I’m not very crafty.Terra cotta is so “forgiving.” LOL. If you break it, just “plant” it in the garden. Have a blessed day!
I love this idea! And what about your little spray booth? Too cute!
You’ll be so proud of me. I bought my very own terra cotta pot and planted my ivy. She lives by the kitchen sink now. 🙂
Those are really nice, Robin! I love easy projects like that. To get a different look, I would leave the Terra Cotta as is, use some scrapbooking paper and Mod Podge for the center circle. Just another idea! 🙂 xxoo
Eileen, I love that idea! The terra cotta itself is a gorgeous color and you’d have so many choices with scrapbook paper! Great idea! xoxoxoxoxoox
What a great idea. these would be so perfect for my covered porch. Thanks for the inspiration!
RObin, they would be good for an outdoor covered space this spring and summer!!! xo
