I knew I wanted to do a woodland baby shower for my niece Brigite from the moment I saw pictures of her beautiful nursery! There are soft toned silhouettes of Birch trees on one wall…and you know my love for all-things-woodland :)
With the theme decided on, I started thinking about the food. I was completely uninspired, what could I serve that was a little different than normal shower food? I mean I like normal shower food, but I wanted to mix it up and do something different…
My daughter Stephie suggested we get our food inspiration from the appetizer menu at our favorite Italian restaurant. Turns out, this was the BEST idea!
We even kept the drinks to the Italian theme! World Market has the tastiest Italian Sodas…this was our version of punch!
And if someone liked sparkling water they could add a splash of fruity soda to the water for an extra burst of flavor. I used these gold hot/cold cups from Party City and swiped them with a bit of chalk board paint…for cold drinks write on them with a white paint pen, for hot drinks you can use a chalk pen!
I love the Blood Orange Soda…
Trader Joe’s Spiced Cider is a fall staple around here, so of course we warmed some up for the shower!
Because Brigitte and Goran are having a little girl (Sofija Grace) I needed to bring a bit of a girly feel to the decorations! Remember my Drop Cloth Doily Stenciled Table Cloth? I did it specifically for this shower and it was a perfect backdrop for the table…
You guys know how much I love bringing Terra Cotta to the Table...a few hydrangeas tucked into a terra cotta flower pot is simple perfection in my book. I added a few succulents just for fun 🙂
Stephie made some Antipasto Skewers…
I used The Husband’s rustic wood risers and added doilies to mirror the doily pattern on the table cloth and because using opposites in design is one of my favorite things to do…don’t you like to do that?
Later this week I’m going to give you the menu and recipes in case you love appetizers as much as I do!
The tiny cupcakes came from Gabriele’s Restaurant and Bakery in Marietta GA…if you live near Marietta and haven’t been to Gabriele’s, turn off the computer and grab your car keys…oh, first take off those skinny jeans and slip into your sweat pants …
The Husband made the Rustic Wood Pedestals (Tutorial HERE)
and the adorable Rustic Cupcake Stand (Tutorial HERE!)
When you set a table, do you put your dishes on risers or pedestals? Even if you add a stack of books here and there under a table cloth, it will give the table such visual interest…
I made bunches of tiny velvet pumpkins for party favors!
The velvet pumpkins Tutorial is HERE
Here’s the little sign sitting in front of the party favor pumpkin…
This was a very good day…
Here’s a quick video I did on the shower…
Stay tuned this week for details on the shower…who knows, there might be something you can use for one of your holiday celebrations…
