This cute honeycomb cloche is made mainly from chicken wire and I’ve used this little cloche for years, adding to my spring/summer decor.
I love all things bees and this sweet gold honeycomb cloche will show up on the food table at my spring party because it kinda cute don’t ya think!?
This is pretty east to make and quite whimsical for your spring and summer decor…
You Need:
*Chicken Wire
*Good scissors or wire snips
*Needle nose pliars
*GLOVES if you don’t want to scratch your tender hands!
*Some sort of cloche or vase for a mold
*Small bowl to use as a mole
*Metallic Gold Spray Paint/ I used Krylon
I used a wire cloche that I already had, you could use any cloche or even a vase to mold the wire…Measure the circumference…
And cut your wire…these are super sturdy shears so they cut well but honestly peeps, I needed gloves, my hands looked like I’d been in a cat fight when I finished!
Wrap the chicken wire around your frame…
Press it together and start at the bottom wrapping the wires together…
Because it’s a dome there’s more at the top so you’ll need to trim your wire…and continue wrapping the wire to hold it together…
I used a tiny bowl for a frame on the top…
Pretend the wire is wrapping paper…I cut three slits…
Put the bowl back and start folding the slits over the bowl…
Then wrap the tiny wires to hold the whole thing together…
When it’s stable gently pull out the “frame” and keep closing the tiny wires around each other…
Then you have a beehive!
I spray painted the little cloche and…
To make a little gold beehive! And just look at this tiny bumble bee pin I found in my: “why am I saving this stuff” stash!
So there you have it, another project that will show up on my Fall Party Table!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I know full well it’s still summer, but this morning on the porch during my quiet time, I heard the hum of the neighborhood school bus (it’s the first week here)and I couldn’t stop my mind from wandering down leaf strewn paths straight into fall…
Sending love my sweet friends
xo
