Are you planning to organize some parts of your home in the new year?
After the holidays, after the baking, wrapping, decorating, and entertaining I find so many of my drawers and closets have been catch-alls. In January I’m ready to purge and organize.
Here are a few spaces that have inspired me year after year…
It doesn’t matter how big or small your space, you can be organized! I love this one…
Good House Keeping
This bathroom cabinet solution
You may remember my brilliant solution (Posted HERE) We had a TV Cabinet/Armoire we were no longer using so we tucked it into a corner of the bathroom…
It’s perfect! And I love it so much that when we do remodel, this piece is staying!
I also had trouble with my spices. At Willow Creek I had a big built in lazy-susan to keep spices organized but on Stone House Lane there were no built in options. So I looked around…
This is a baking center in Torrie Jayne’s kitchen…oh the cuteness…
Less cute but ever so practical, I found these options…
Then I found this little contraption and I love it!
It’s Rubbermade-click on the pic below to see info…

This month I have two messy areas on my radar.
The first is my kitchen junk drawer. Ummm, I started with one junk drawer and after only 8 months living here, I now have THREE! No one needs THREE junk drawers!!!
When I saw this junk drawer I was inspired…

My other project I’d like to tackle in the new year is the garage. We don’t have loads of junk in our garage because fortunately we have other storage spaces. But what seems to happen is the floor is becoming a catch-all.
Look at this space…ahhhhhhh.
This would be good for basket balls, soft balls and all manner of outdoor paraphernalia- HERE
This is doable-
Do you have any organizing plans for January?!?!?
Hi robin it’s been a while your new home is gorgeous ! Good luck with your January projects ! Hope you have a great day
Hi Andy! So Happy to hear from you!
Lovely. Simply lovely. Been wondering how to arrange my spices. Tried stuffing them into a container, but that makes them difficult to find. Will try one of these nifty ideas! xo
Julie, I can’t wait to hear what you come up with for your spices…tell Ricky, he’ll fix it!!! xo
Robin, I am loving your web site! And I look forward to seeing more. Barbara
Barbara~ Thank you Honey! I’m so happy to meet you! xo
My spices are what I would love to get organized! I too had a built in lazy-susan when we lived in Colorado. It was so handy and I loved it. Here, I only have my pantry and I have small plastic baskets that I place them in. I’m not crazy about that. So, I am looking at finding something else. I will be taking a closer look at your ideas!
Eileen, let me know what you decide on with those spices!!! xo
Great post with lots of motivation for me! Here is my spice organization project.

Tanya…I’ll ck it out ! thx
This house is VERY short on closet space which is making me a little crazy. We do have tons of storage in the basement and have purchased about 15 shelving units from Lowes that I LOOOOVE, and will post about soon. The garage is SO tiny compared to our last oversized one:( That has to wait for Spring since it is FREEZING here!!!! My kitchen I am still tweaking, bUT we do have a corner cabinet and the 16 inch lazy susans that you can buy at bed bath and beyond fit PERFECTLY, like they are built in!!!! Can’t wait to see your solutions for YOUR house. XOXO, P
Pinky, can’t wait to see your shelving units from Lowes! xo
Isn’t it funny how we need a “junk” drawer? I have one too with masking tape, matches, food clips, etc. 🙂 I do have it pretty contained though with drawer organizers. 😉 The BIG problem at my house is my attic! Every year I say I am going to tackle it but seems I never do. 🙁 Now, the mess has spread to my kid’s old playroom so I have two places to purge, clean and organize. =P I plan to work on the playroom soon. The weather has to be warmer to go into the attic though. 😉
Gina…one junk drawer is crazy enough…but 3???? :0
My nemesis is my under the stairs closet where I keep all the home decor I’m not currently using. I go through it once or twice a year and get rid of things, but then I go thrifting and it fills back up!
I love your cabinet in the bathroom. Beautiful!
Elizabeth, I have a closet like that!!! No sooner do I get it organized the season changes and I mess it up again!!! (And the thrifting…oh yes! I’m the same way about finding treasures!)
xo
Looks like you found some really great organization ideas. Do you ever find it funny how we all start thinking about organizing and getting healthy in the New Year? I try to resist and do it another time of year but every year here I am doing it again.
Debbie
Debbie, You are so right about the getting healthy part but as far as organizing I think about that almost every day!!!! Happy New Year! xo
Hi, I found a picture on Pinterest from your website. It is the picture of the Aqua color whisk, measuring cups and other kitchen tools. I am new to Pinterest and I am trying to find out where to purchase those items. Can you help me?
Kathy, this is Cusinart Retro Line, I got them a few years ago at Tuesday Morning but you can still find them on Amazon… here’s a link to the spoons:
