Halloween decorating is something I love about October! Don’t misunderstand, I don’t do the scary decorations, I’m not terribly invested in that part of Halloween. But I do so love to put out some kid friendly, fun decorations! I changed out my little front porch this weekend, can I show you what I did?
Our porch is really small, unlike our house on Willow Creek, where we had a rocking chair front porch. The Husband and I lived on Willow Creek for so long that I knew just what that little porch needed in every season, but this porch, here on Stone House Lane…we’re just getting to know each other.
Here she is stripped down and ready for a bit of fall nesting…
Here’s how I decorated her sweet little self in early fall. In the past few weeks our little fall-porch welcomed family and friends to a couple of Sunday Suppers, a Baby Shower and granddaughter, Lucy Jean’s 3rd birthday party. But it’s time to dress her up in her kid-friendly Halloween finery 🙂
You know how I love layering in design. It works on porches too!
I decided to make a Big-Boo-Banner* and added some tall black twigs to my Ivy topiaries…
Next came 2 cornstalks and 2 bails of hay, because if ever you wonder how to decorate for fall…just start with cornstalks and bails of hay!
Next I added a few Heirloom Pumpkins, mums and a bit of whimsy in the form of a kitten* and an owl*…my tiny granddaughters will love the kittens and the owl!
From now until October 31st we’ll have a Sunday Supper, our Big Fall Party and a Before-Trick-or-Treating Party, so there will be lots of welcoming opportunities for our little porch!
In case you might like to watch a video, here’s a quickie on all the Halloween Decorating I did on the porch!
Do you do any decorating for your Trick-or-Treaters? If so, do tell… is it on the porch or in the yard???
Sending love my friends ~ xo

Your porch is perfection! I think the black branches are such a good idea too. It all looks so festive and welcoming…good job!
Ann, thank you so much friend xo
Hi Robin
Love your pretty front porch decorating. You have a big enough front porch to have yourself some fun decorating it. Our front porch is smaller also but big enough to play. Love the Boo banner. The corn stalks in the corner look so great. Your porch looks amazing
happy day Robin

The Boo banner is adorable! I love your porch it is a perfect blend of both Halloween and Fall. The corn stalks are a perfect touch, but where do you get them?
I start smiling just thinking about your music coming on! Your Boo banner is soooo cute! I’m like the tiny granddaughters–I love the kitties and the owl. All of it, really!

My favorite things to decorate for autumn are pumpkins, corn stalks and hay bales. Your porch looks so inviting and cute for your trick-or-treaters. Living out in the country, we have never had trick-or-treaters, so I tend to decorate for us!
Eileen, I love that you live in the country. That’s why all your photos are so amazing 🙂 ox
